Default front main seal install (little spring is being a b**ch)

anyone have any advice? the motor is out, i have all the room i need. EVERY time i try and put that thing in, the spring pops out and one part of the seal folds in. i have a socket that fits perfectly on it, i have tried for hours... how the crap do you get this thing in??!?!?!

bump... anyone else have any tips? i've tried it dry, lubed... whatever... that little bitch will not stay in the rubber.

try chilling it in the freezer, maybe it will make it less likely to fold

thanks for the tip bro... i will try that if i ever need to replace one again. i got it in a few minutes ago. heres what i did:

took off the oil pump and greased the crap out of the inside of the seal as well as the crank. took the new seal and worked it onto the crank without the oil pump there to **** with me... after i could get it on by itself, it seemed to just want to go on correct. so i put it back in the oil pump and slid them on together, and it worked.

that thing was a serious bitch.
