AutoX video from 8/14
Went to the DC region's 5th championship event today, and man was it hot as hell out there. I ran my Integra LS in GS, stock and running on 205/50/15 RT-215's (not very competitive, but whatever). The course was LONG today, with GS winner doing it in 74 seconds ( Course Map).
Here's the video: Right-Click and Save-As).
You NEED, I repeat, NEED Quicktime 7 to view it. It's available free from http://www.quicktime.com.
This was my first time running on the RT-215's. I got them put on Friday to replace my ES100's (glad to see those go for AutoX duty) so they were still a little greasy. It was a totally different world though. My first impressions are that turn in wasn't as precise and sharp (wide tire on 6 inch wide rim causing this I presume), grip was a whole lot better, and there wasn't as much body roll, presumably from the stiffer sidewalls.
I wasn't able to put together a solid run. Some parts improved while others got worse from run to run. After watching the vide I probably should have braked more instead of plowing wide in several areas.
Comments welcome. Enjoy!

Hey Brian! This is Dave Mac, "ran black ITR in DS". That course was hella tight for sure. I managed a decent time but it was rather difficult to not want to push you car a bit. It was definately NOT what I was expecting from a WDCR course on the largest lot in the Northeast. Still fun though.

Dave,
I think I've seen your black ITR a few times I've been there. I've never stuck around though to watch the afternoon heats (or gotten up early enough to watch the morning heats) because of the heat.
The results were posted last night, and congrats on the 1st place. I finished a whopping 16/17 in GS, although to somewhat justify that, I'm the only one in class NOT running R-comps. Next time I'm thinking of putting a cheap tie bar on and running in STS since my time would have put me in 13/22 as is.
Also, any recommendations on tire pressures to run on the RT-215's? I've seen a couple threads on the subject suggestion around 38psi up front and a little less in back. I ran 42F and 36R to start with recommended by the guy who mounted them (GrandAm cup racer), but because there wasn't an air compressor at the event yesterday, I didn't make any adjustments.
Thanks

Dave,
The reason for the course design was that Greg Olsen did not design the course yesterday. While not the most painful course I have ever driven, it certainly did not flow as well as I would have liked. I certainly want Greg designing the courses again in the future. Then again, I am a bit biased as Greg has studied at the school of Lee Piccione Course design, and as we all know, Lee's courses ROCK!!.
Later,
Eric

Hey Eric! I did not dis-like the course, it was just not what I have grown to expect down there. You HAD to be patient for sure. T'was truely a go slow to be fast course. I still tried like hell to find SOME spots to mash the gas though. I'll agree on the Piccone school of course design!

I was having trouble with my engine trying to over heat and trying to cool the tires enough that I did not get much time to even consider my runs. I kept telling Jenny to be patient. I needed to listen to myself. I overcooked the second half of the course every single run. I personally did not care for the course myself. Just did not flow. Not that it was horrible, just not my taste. I was more excited about Jenny. Her 4th run clicked and she dropped 4 seconds off her previous times that were all within 2 tenths of one another. Ian and I were jumping up and down when she crossed the finish and the low 76.2 sec time flashed for her run.

I have a pretty good vid of the course from my ITR. I'll get Gil to convert it and I'll send it to Mike to host for me. It's pretty cool having in car. I realize that I am still late as SH*T on a lot of stuff.

Hmmm, I used the H.264 codec (found it to be of better quality, smaller file size) used by Quicktime 7. I made it on our Mac and I've watched it on my PC running the preview version of Quicktime 7 available from the Quicktime website.
