Default DOHC VTEC oil pressure at head problem

i have an ls/vtec in my del sol. my vtec is not working i have 2 oil pressure gauges in my car one at the back of the block and one at the vtec test port at the front of the head. block oil pressure is normal at 10-15psi at idle to 80 at high revs, i do have the full psi at the end of the ls/vtec line but not at the other side of the head only getting less then 15. solenoid is clean and clicks and activates at 5000rpm like my computer is chipped to do. it turns my engine light on if i drive in vtec for a short period of time throws a code 22 but i have tried 3 different vtec pressure sensors and that is not it, it is definetly oil pressure problem. i even switched where the line taps into the head to the 1/8 hole . any advice would be helpful.........

what do u mean by getting full presure at the lsvtec line? It coming out of the block or going into the head? Normally oil pressure should read about 50-60psi in the front port of the head when the VTEC is engaged.

You usually won't see oil pressure on the front of the head until vtec kick in. check your wiring to see if there is a loose connection.

was this motor just built. here are a few things to check
the vtec selonoid screen could be clogged
check for continuity/resistance at teh oil pressure switch
check d6 to the pressure switch for continuity
also check that all of the cam caps are tight i just had a friend that had a missing bolt on the cam cap that lost oil pressure at the pressure switch.

I can feel vtec kick in with no problem. My oil pressure gauge read about 65 to 70 psi of oil when vtec kick in. the guage sending unit is on the back of the block.

did you use a 4 an line (for oil feed) and what about your oil pump did your use the vtec one if now try that the dif if 30 psi. and the code 22 is vtec my friends car did that we dont know you but it was cool it hit vtec on a ls ecu. dont know what to tell you just turn your car off and then back on real quick when you are driveing then it will quit throughing check engine and one a day reset your ecu.

I have the same oil prolem in my ls/vtec and so does my freind in his b20/vtec. I do not agree with putting in a vtec oil pump because the b20 oil pump has the same part number and the vtec one from honda and my freind still has the problem so what gives???? Anyway I have treid going to the -4an feed line to the head and it still makes no difference. If anything, the bigger feed line just takes longer to fill up and begin lubricating the cams upon start up. IMO I will never build another Ls/Vtec. Next one going to have b18C1 or c5 inscribed......

the in side of the 4an feed is the same size as the fitting and you dont have to use a vtec oil pump on a b20 but you shoud use it on ls vtec also a vtec watter pump. but every one has there own opinion.

this may be a long shot but, did you put the dowel pin on the cam caps? its something that commonly happens.

My oil feed line for my ls/vtec is actually 6an line. I did have a problem with my b20vtec with vtec not kicking in. It turn out I had air in the line and after a couple of day of driving it solve itself. It is correct that the b20 oil pump is the same as the vtec one. I had used an 8an line before and it still work out fine. I believe that you might have air in your oil feed line.
