Default d15z1 mini-me on d15b2 block?

This is the first time I've explored doing a minime conversion, so please no flames. Is it possible for the d15z1 head to fit on the d15b2 block? Would I be able to take advantage of vtec-e with this minime swap?

For those who are going to tell me to go for real power, the point of this swap is to get better gas mileage, not to rice out my car.

Thanks in advance.

Thanks. I found a head REALLY cheap and might do this some time down the road. It makes a lot more sense that doing a full engine/ecu/tranny/axle swap... and it's a lot easier to do.

Ya, it should work. You wont have the same RS ratio, but if you use the vtec head gasket, you should have about 10.1:1 compression.

The important question... will this help (even a little bit) with gas mileage? Every little bit will help me reach my goal of 50mpg. This would be a cheap upgrade, and rather easy. My stock head is burning oil, so this might be a good investment for mileage and longevity of the car.

Any other input on this? I'm about to buy the block and I want to make sure it's a wise move to help with fuel economy.

You will the need the head, the transmission (or an HF transmission) and all associated electronics to obtain maximum efficiency.

IOW, the head, ECU, and tranny? Any other gadgets I need besides these? I'm planning on findingn a HF tranny some day and using that instead of the DX tranny, but I'll have to use the DX tranny for now.

Anyone know what ECU the d15z1 uses?
