When do i Shift When im racing?

I know its a Stupid Question...But when is the best time to shift when racing...I have a Integra GSr and it redlines @ 8,200....SHould i reach redline in every gear or just reach redline in 1st and thats it...I would really appriciate it for your help..

racing on the street, drag, autocross or road race?

IMO, with a GS-R, right before the revlimiter. They're still pulling right up until then, and shifting "high" leaves you on the big cam with the secondaries open.
