Hey guys, here's the story:

A little over a month back, I got into an accident in my 'Teg. The front driver's side quarter panel got hit. So, pretty much everything got replaced. New suspension bits, tie rod ends, etc.

I got the car back about a week and a half ago. When I picked it up, the mechanic mentioned that he wasn't sure if there was excessive noise coming from the front left tire. I said I'd listen for it and get back to him.

So, there is a small, irregular noise coming from the front left of the car. I have put different tires on, so I know it's not that. Sometimes it's a hum, sometimes it moans a bit. These are fairly soft noises, but clearly audible. They are definitely coming from the wheel/axle area.

Does anybody know what condition these noises would indicate? TIA...

 

Does the humming change pitch the faster you drive? It could be a bad wheel bearing in that case.

 

A little bit...the mechanic did think it might be a bad wheel bearing.

 

That's what I'm thinking if it gets louder as you drive.

 

definetly sounds like a collapsed bearing, a while back i thought i could hear a humming noise every now and then but no one else seemed to be able to hear it, i got it checked out and it turned that the bearing was slightly worn, got it relaced anyway...no more humming sounds, except me when i dont know the words to a song!!

Some stunna put a different size tire on my driver's side front wheel!!!

All of the tires should be 195/60-14s...the front driver's side is a 195/65-14! F'n VIP!!! (any Mainers in the audience will know what I'm talkin' bout).

I'm going to get it straightened out tomorrow morning...THEN I'll check the bearing. It only seems to get louder to a point...but if it's still audible at highway speed, it must be getting louder.

Morons!!! AAaaaargh....

Speaking of sex, or lack thereof....I took her to go see '40 Days, 40 Nights' tonight, and it's all about sex. She really liked it b/c she's also Catholic and was feelin' the whole Lent thing.

Anybody who hasn't thought of seeing it...go see it when it premieres next weekend!
