gt35r spool .63 vs .83 on b16?
i have a built b16 with a mini-me manifold. it was 81mm, 9:1 pistons. my .82 gt35r spooled very late (6-6.5k rpm). when i did a compression test the number were super low (120's). so i rebuilt the motor and now have 84mm 9.7:1 pistons. im hoping this will help my late spool problems. but how much of a diffrence will it make if switched to .63 housing? is it worth the money?
i have a love fab mini-me manifold and a full 3" exhaust. i just dont know if my motor has enough displacment to spool the turbo quickly enough.

i was wondering the spool diffrence. i dont know if 500rpms is worth the $300 for a new housing. would the .82 housing be worth anyting if i were to sell it?

A new housing shouldn't be 300 bucks, and you can try and trade with someone on here. I'm sure theres somebody with a .63 that wants to trade up to a .82.

the best price i could find was $300. the gt35r housings are like 2x compared to normal t3 housings. if you can find a better price let me know
the 63 will hit about 30psi around 5300 rpms assuming you have a good exhaust manfiold and big exhaust.
deffinatly wouldnt get the 82 on a b16 unless you plan on turning 12k rpms

this is a street car so i dont think it will ever see 30psi, it will hardly ever see any race gas. also how much of a diffrence will changing the compression from 9:1 to 9.7:1

is it a 3" outlet, 4-bolt, t3? have any pics? i would be intrested in trading.
the onth thing that through me off was that you said you had a gt35rE

dont take this the wrong way, but-
isnt a gt35r a little overkill on a d16? i didnt think thoes reved high enough or made enough power to get the most out a big turbo. how high (rpms) can a d16 go. and how much power are you making at your boost level

in theory a d16 could rev higher, it has less moving parts. a z6 rev limit is like 7600 stock i think, higher then an LS. I know people that rev there z6's to 9k all day long with no problems. so I wouldnt say revs are an issue, and hes making boost at around 5100 so it is deffinitally usable.

nope
nope
i though that d series motors were rev limited because of there longer stroke.
im just trying to learn a little more about d-series.
bump for more opnion on exhaust housing
