I just recently bought a used Hatch as a spare car while I mess around with my first hatch. I'm getting this funny claking noise when my car is on gear.. it's more like if I have a load to my engine. It sounds like Rod bearings to me, can someone verify this or anyone has a feedback on this one. thanks

hmm, that could be rod bearing, try adding some oil to it to see it it quiets down. warning tho, the incresed oil pressure may break the already potentially weakend rod.

 

You're sure it's not just pinging?
BTW, adding oil to the proper level will not increase oil pressure unless it was so low that the pick-up was sucking air.

 

may be pilot bearing on the flywheel or a main bearing in the tranny...ive had 3 civics do that to me and 2 times it was the main bearings in the tranny and another time it was the pilot bearing...hth

 

Could be piston slap- is it worse cold?

 

well if its knocking that bad, my guess is that adding a quart wont be enough.
