This is not the case. It sounds like you are reffering to the passive steering control, but this has nothing to do with being able to turn the rear wheels with the steering wheel. It is not a very important part of the 88-91 EF-based series as far as steering is concerned, it is more for stability in corners and at speed.

I know that the old school Si Preludes, came with rear wheel steering. Like the 90-91's with the flip up lights.

The entire ED (commonly referred to as the generic EF) series 88-91 Civic/CRX has varying degrees of passive rear wheel steering, but it has nothing to do with turning the steering wheel. It is based in the hub and bearings, and like the name states, it is "PASSIVE" and not controllable by the driver. Very minute adjustments are made during cornering at higher speeds, nothing that is noticable in the passenger compartment.

actually, its nothing exclusive to just CRX. its just part of the rear trailing arm suspension. as the wheel moves up and down, toe changes, which is basically steering. same thing with the front. same thing in all civics and integras.

prelude 4WS is the true rear steering system.

For the '88's the mounting location of the LCA to the body is in a differnt spot compared to the '89-91 crx. The 88's have a very twitchy feeling when taking a corner resulting from the passive steering. Of course, all the civic/crx in these years had it, its just the '88 crx had it more then the other years. Also the '88's have the Eye-style shocks rather then the fork style ones.

Hopefully that helps!
