Do these bearings look ok to reuse?
Hey guys--I spun a rod bearing in my old d16, now I am going to rebuild it. The other bearings that were not damaged in the motor seem to be ok. I should mention that the motor only had about 50 miles on it before one of the rod bearings let go (I believe the clearance on that particular bearing was incorrect) The bearings are ACL and the mains are =0.25+. Do the main bearings below look ok to reuse (even though they were in the motor when the rod bearing spun) I know small bearings chunks could act as an abrasive and damage the other bearings, but they seem to look ok...What do the experts think? thanks in advance, Jay.(sorry for the picture quality)

Look, bearings are the least expensive component in a motor. Why would you reuse them? Bearings take a beating constantly even in a stock motor. Your best bet is to replace them.. Chances are when you spun that bearing, you may have imbedded metal into them. I would recommend coated ACL bearings. They are not expensive to buy even at list. Contact me tomorrow dadams@calicocoatings.com or 704-483-2202. I think I can answer your questions.

I don't know how much honda D-series bearings cost, but I'd imagine you could find a complete engine for the price of a new set of bearings from the dealer. Anyway, it looks like they all may have been a little on the tight side. If the clearances are right, I would re-use them. Depends on what you plan to do with the engine I suppose...
