Ahh The Sound Of Vtec
It is the cam profile change. When VTEC occurs the cam profiles change, the high rpm cams have more duration and lift, so they are open longer and have a larger amount of air flowing, really you are hearing more internal engine sound, the extra lift i'm sure creates a higher sound volume, and the extra duration is making more of the internal engine breathing open to the environment so basically more sound. This is my theory, but there definitely more science behind it than i am fit to explain.

on the vtech models it depends on which dialtone you get. Some of them are touch tone...but the old ones (obd0) will click when you dial numbers.
VOIP models are the newest...we might see people swapping the keypads into the older phones.

I'm sure we'll start seeing some jdm antenna conversions as well.

more overlap = more explosion sound getting out basically
combine that with the mechanical sound of the valves opening closing at insanely fast speeds and you have pure sex.
