uh what the crap is that? I mean as long as your not street racing what is the problem with modifying your car. Man some people are so stupid. You know what it is?, its these damn law makers who drive porche's and other really expensive cars and get owned by a rsx type s with a turbo. They are like damn I look like a noob right now in front of the girl I pay to sleep next to me, so Im going to try to get those guys' cars taken away by some lame *** law. Man what the crap is the world coming to. I mean we pay for our cars, who has the right to just take it away because you modified it? Whats next, going to jail for tattoos? Man this is so freaking weak.....
"Under Drag-Net, San Diego officers come to train other departments how to look out for what they believe to be tell-tale signs of illegal modification such as window tinting, large spoilers, extra gauges or racing stickers.[QUOTE=answer703]look at this s!@#. " lol stickers and large spoilers are for 2 fast 2 furious wannabes.
That is extremely dumb, they should crack down more on the idot SUV drivers that think they own the road rather the one who modify their cars. Just because someone modifys a car doesnt mean that they are a ricer, street racing, or causing trouble.

I love our government (not). Instead of taking that $5 million (of our tax dollars) and putting some good to it (public education) they are going to blow it all on hiring extra cops to control "illegal modifications". This is gay!
call or write your local representative or councilman.
when you see a street race, go chew out the ones doing it or call in their plate numbers.
every car i own is modified, but i don't street race.
i'm a taxpayer AND an auto enthusiast. 5 million seems like a waste of money unless you consider the potential revenue new laws and enforcement could generate. i would form a group and maybe look into working with the police about this.
i'm not into ratting people out, but when stupid decisions of fellow enthusiasts starts to affect my life, you have to make a stand and a choice.
i'm glad i don't live in california also.

In practice, "excessive exhaust noise" tickets are the most common violation. California law does not require police to measure sound levels objectively. Instead, according to the California Highway Patrol, the "citation is based on officer's judgment."
seriously...thats the most ridicules **** ever!
citation is based on the cop judgment, **** that.
i'm so glad i don't live on the west coast anymore

Whew, I'm not worried about it all that much after reading that. LoL
although i partially blame a lot of car enthusiasts (import and domestic), they are takin it to the extreme by lookin for stickers and window tinting and ****. i blam the car enthusiasts because of instead of takin it to the track, they go out and do it in the streets where they have the potential to end not only theirs, but others lives as well. a lot of people put themselves in this situation and unfortunatly dragged others that arent as retarded as them down as well. im pretty sure if a petition was started and taken in front of city council with a good argument, a track might be taken into consideration. if not, drive a few hours to go race at a track. its better to keep yourself and others safe and prevent laws like "if it is anything other than stock, its illegal...even rims biznatch!" from happening
I agree, I understand why it happened but I think that it's extremely stupid. I can do 130 and kill myself and others in my bone-stock Accord. Stickers and a wing don't mean anything. It's the driver. If they want to crack down on street racing then they should crack down on street racing!
One of my favorite sayings applies here: "If a solution offers you an excuse for laziness then it's probably the wrong solution." Attention CA police and law makers.

So are they only pinpointing cars? What about trucks or motorcycles? They are plenty of people who modify things other than cars....
This could be a possible law that would soon be implemented by other states??

I just want to make sure I understand this. They can pull you over just for modifying the car? You dont have to be racing or speeding, swurving, drinking or having sex. Just for using some springs and aftermarket wheels and maybe an exhuast they can pull you over?????? How is this legal?
I don't understand how this is any different from pulling over a minority, just because they are a minority???!!!! I would think this would get contested and overturned in court. Dont misunderstand me, I hate seeing street racing, not that it happens much in Lexington, but if you do it you are a meat head and deserve what you get. However, my wife would be getting pulled over in her Jetta for a lowered suspension and aftermarket exhaust. Sounds crazy to me.
California is fun to visit, glad I dont live there.

Virginia has a law that says you must use a "stock" or "stock-like" exhaust. Luckily for me, the SMS exhaust on my ITR looks pretty damned stock-like.

When you visit, maybe it'd be a good idea not to drive.

Come on out and get yourself a lawyer, I'm curious to hear the outcome.

That effing sucks. That specific article on that website also gives a bad anme to the STi with that picture on the right. That makes no sense at all, there are several cars from the factory that are pumping out way more power than most people with modified cars, they might as well start pulling them over too. San Diego used to have a program where they would open drag lanes at quallcom once every month i think, but that program was shut down due to lack of funding, even though it was a fairly successful program. All in all this is just a bunch of bull ****. **** Arnie.
