need some launching tips please...
Well, it varies slightly with your equipment/power, but I'm gonna give you the basics.
Street: Just rev up a little and drop the clutch. Don't rev too high or you'll just spin. Then ease into the throttle until it's all the way down...then slam gears all the way thru until you're done.
Track: This is a bit harder to do. You need practice. You'll most likely bog, spin too much, or even stall. It's also hell on your clutch. Find out at what rpm your maximum torque is. Rev up to about 500 below that. When it comes time to go, you don't want to drop the clutch. You'll be spinning into next week. You want to clip the clutch very fast.....almost like a drop. But you want to ride the clutch real fast and also ease into the throttle. It's hell on your clutch since you're pretty much burning the clutch as you do it.
Practice both in a parking lot and you'll see the track method is quite hard to do. I can't get it perfect every time.
Good luck.

Well, since you have LS/Vtec, it's gonna be hard to tell your exact power and torque levels. Anyway, just to let you know, torque is most important getting you off the line, so that's where you want to launch.....500 below max torque, NOT horsepower.
Here are some reference numbers for a 3rd Gen like yours:
LS: 127ft-lbs @5200
GSR: 128ft-lbs@6200
Well, being that the torque numbers aren't too far off....and you want to take advantage of that low end with your LS bottom end, try launching at around 4500-4800 or so and hold it around there. Experiment....it's hard for me to say since you have a Vtec head, and I'm not too familiar with thier power curve.
Good luck, hope it helps.
EDIT: Sorry, forgot to mention, that's the strategy at the track. For the street....just don't go wild. Launch at 2500-3000 or something and just dump the clutch. That usually seems to work against normal punks who wanna race.
Oh, and zojirushi....your Homer doesn't have a neck.
(_8o(|)= <---there you go.

my best 60ft time was 2.5 before I started using this technique...now my best 60ft is 2.2. Hold the E-brake up, take you revvs to about 3 grand (maybe higher on lower tq/hp cars) and disengage the clutch until you feel the car tense and want to move...keep it there *MAKE SURE YOU DON"T GIVE TOO MUCH GAS WHILE YOU ARE ON THE THRESHOLD YOU YOU WILL FOUL* on the last yellow release the E-brake and you jump off the line. Once the ebrake is down give the clutch/gas slight feathering and you are off to runnin faster times! I improved from 14.18 to 13.94 using that technique...its all about the launch.

Lower the air pressure in your front tires.
When shifting put slight pressure on the stick towards the next gear quickly push clutch and change gears (the less time you spend shifting the more time you spend going) I keep my foot on the gas a little over half throttle while shifting.
practice practice and pay attention on how you can improve.

Thanks everyone for the tips. I'll be sure to try them out; just a little scared of messing up my brakes with that e-brake method, but sounds good though. Thanks.
actually...preloading the clutch w ur ebrake isn't too bad for it....and it does work quite well...even in the street on (sticky asphalt)...launc at like 3500-4000 rpms...works damn good (on the street) with little tire slip...i've never been the track tho...so eheh
