Default B-Series Transmission question (LSD)

Hey guys i was wondering if all B-series LSd's are the same, because my friends going to replace his tranny and his tranny has lsd but no 3rd gear and he said he'll give it to me. i was wondering if his LSD from his B16 Tranny would fit my tranny which is j1, i will try to find out what kinda tranny he has. thanks

Not so fast... The Y1 and YS1 trannies were different from the rest, they are actually identical to the hydro transmissions internally. I think someone put it into an LS trans, but it took some specialness of some type. If you search, there's some info, but it's rather scattered.

Not true! Only the YS1 is the large spline style tranny the same as the newr hydro tranny's.

The Y1 is the small spline style and uses a differnt clutch, and all the internals are different also.

No its not!!! Don't spread missinformation!

I have a factory oem 1993 Integra XSI YS1 cable B series "with" the LSD option just like the Y1 tranny.

Its true that if you find a Y1 lsd, it should fit into your J1 gearbox because it has the smaller mainshaft style design. It may be very hard to find the lsd itself separately though.

what do you mean by its going to be very hard to find the lsd its self seperately? i'm going to practically have a transmission and all ima have to do it take the lsd off and put the lsd in my j1 tranny, thats if it's interchangeable.
