Strange Squeak when I turn wheels
I have a 2000 Accord LX with about 105K miles on it. I just had the timing belts replaced/Water pump etc, and I want the car to last another 100K miles. When I turn the wheel or make sharp turns I get this low pitch squeaking noise. It's almost a creak. Is this a problem with my struts, and if so, is it something I could fix on my own?
Thanks
Thanks
Four (4) things come to mind:
1) Dry lower balljoints
2) Dry Anti-Sway Bar Bushings
3) Dry / Loose Power Steering Belt
4) Worn Front Brake Pads (worn to wear sensor)
Unfortunately I can only make suggestions, you have to supply the eyeball. Your Tech may have to supply the stethescope.

On my 99 it was dry upper joints..you need one of those needles to inject grease in, I don't know what they are called, but they exist.
Or do what I did, take it to a decent shop and they practically lubed them for free..and it has been fine since - that was three years ago.

IT'sdefinetely coming from the left front wheel...so I'm guessing it's the dry joint. Thanks for the responses. I'm trying to figure more out about cars and not be a some ignorant person who can be had.
Never, never feel strange about asking questions. How do you think we learned half the stuff we spout off? Just remember that the only stupid question is the one never asked.
One thing I always suggest as the next purchase after buying the car, is a service manual. (I prefer Chiltons') Even if you're not inclined to fix it yourself, you'll learn more than any owners' manual could teach you.

If your PS pump is calling whale song and the fluid is full then just go ahead and get a new pump and say goodbye to the whale song.

Remember you're not ignorant if you are willing to learn
.
We all had to learn somewhere
.
From what it sounds like is your p/s fluid. I remember when mine got low it would make a squeel, so its worth checking into. Also look under your car and look at your p/s rack, the the grommets are soggy then you will probably need a replacement rack (which are expensive
).

Easy enough to check the PS fluid, 1 min job there..
Does this sound occur only when the wheels are turned in either direction full stop while the suspension is moving up and down - ie while the car is rolling?

The sound usually only occurs when I stear to the right, towards the left, it doesn't make the noise. It's not really a squeal either, it's more of a creak.
did u try taking the wheel out and looking? i had that problem once, it started off as a squeak then turned into a grinding noise and it only happened when i made a turn...
anyways, turned out the cover behind the rotor was bent outta shaped and causing all the noise as i turned. bent it back to place and problem was fixed
