Default Gauge Clusters

I have searched mutiple ways to see how this was done. I have a 88 dx HB and want to swap in a 90-91 Gauge cluster so I have a Tach. I know how to remove it and all that good stuff, but do I need to do any rewiring since the 88-89 hatchs dont have tachs. Link a write-up if you have one. I searched here and google, but nothing for non rpm clusters to a rpm cluster. Thanks.

88-89 had tachs, but not all of them. I have a cluster w/ tach from an 88but my hatch is a 90 and i need a 90-91 cluster w/ tach. If you want to trade that would be awesome. Your car is already wired for a tach even if it doesnt have one stock. any 88-89 will fit and the tach will work with no mod. so it is a win-win situation for both of us we both get to put a tach in our base model civics. Let me know if you are interested.

in response to your situation, if you have the late eighties honda civic and try to put a 90-91 gauge cluster in there and have it fit under the same bezel cover as your old one it's not gonna sit right. you need a 90-91 bezel cover as well as the brackets that holds a 90-91 gauge cluster in place. Figured you might wanna know rathre than run into that issue later on.

Hey I am in search of a 88-89 cluster with no tach, so if you are willing to sell your cluster, let me know. I have a 90-91 cluster with no tach in it, cause I have an external tach for my car.

all ef's are prewired for a tach. just buy a cluster with one and hook it up.
