Default anyone move an alternator on the h22?

just curious, i was looking at the turbo placemnt on my car and it looks easier to me to move the alternator down to the ac compressor bracket.

if anyone has a ac bracket let me know. i could use one to see.

Somone Here made something along the lines of that.
Not sure how well it works, but either way IMo moving it to the A/C bracket doesnt help much either. Its still completly in the way being on the front of the motor.
I considered building a Bracket to flip it to the other Side of the timing belt and mounting it Backwards in Use with an NSX alternator.
It would sit Above the Drivers side Frame Rail infront of the Motor mount.

Whoa what a coincidence, I'm making a bracket there myself for the H22! I'm moving it because of clearance issues (turbo manifold design). My only concern is finding a belt that small.
I'll post mine up when I get it done

I'm moving it down to the AC location. Due to my engine location (check link in sig), and the fact its in an EG frame there is very little room for a belt towards the rear of the engine bay. In other words the frame rail narrows and wont allow you to squeeze a belt past.
I'm sure its possible with enough work to put the alt. on the back of the motor, but it just isnt worth the effort to me. It will look just as clean if its moved down out of sight.

hey i just looked inthe back of the block and i dont see anyway possible to mount a alt. back there. there is no open bolt holes to maunt a bracket to.

i thknki will mount a mini gm 1 wire up front. in the ac location.
anyone have a bad mini 1 wire that i can borrow/buy to mock up?

Why use a GM 1 wire? Don't they use an external regulator (instead of honda's internally regulated alternator with ECU input)? How is it connected? Forgive the questions, just curious

I spent almost all my time tonight looking at the block, alt and A/C mount so I didn't get a lot done unfortunately in the 1 hour I worked on it. Hopefully I'll get it done this weekend and post up a few pics. Best of luck on yours!

This is what I've made so far tonight haha..
The piece sticking out is the OEM insert (needs to be trimmed), I assume it takes a lot of stress off the mount itself so I used it. 1/4" plate steel should be more than enough eh?

just finished mine up. mounted a gm 1 wire alternator (well it is still a mock-up) down in the a/c location. actually wasnt that bad of a project. i can see now that it is going to pay off when i mount the turbo stuff. now i need to find a 6 rib that short. i think it was a 790mm

i would have pics but the wife took it with her for the weekend

ill get them up soon.
