Default Which year did they switch muffler types?

I have a 94 LS with the original factory muffler and the original chrome trim on the tailpipe tip (it holds in place with a set-screw)

I want to get an OEM muffler, and I believe they did away with the chrome trim, and went to a flat-black welded on tip (like the Type R tip)

Does anyone know what years of LS and RS had this type of tip? (98+ perhaps?) Anyone with a part number for this new style muffler?

Mine came with a trimpiece too. I have a 2000 LS. The only ones that came with a one piece were the GSR and Type R.

I could swear that my former co-workers 2002 LS had the one-piece tip.

Then again, that was 3 years ago when I saw it.

Can anyone else confirm?

hmm.. 98-01 Itrs are the only models that have the tip welded to the muffler. Gsr 98-01 have similar tips to the itr but are screwed on.

first off there is no 2002 integra..and most likely he either swapped out his entire catback or axleback system, because itrs and ls have identical exhaust lengths

OK, sorry for the year mix-up..must have been a 2001.

If I want the flat-black style tip, I only have 2 choices - ITR or GSR, right????

So an ITR axle-back will bolt right up to my LS, right? (I know the GSR is different length piping)

Thanks for helping a noob out. Any idea howe much an ITR muffler is from the dealer??

yes, an itr exhaust is a direct fit. alternatively you could use an exhaust from an 00-01 gsr

oh yea...that year slipped my mind too, must have been the lack of sleep from turbo installs

A place online I think http://www.delrayacura.com (also goes by http://www.acuraoemparts.com I believe)
wants something like $190 for one.

Does that seem about right?

seems a little on the cheap side to me, although may still be correct i think they're $208 on acuraparts247.com which generally has the cheapest prices. still, buying a new one is going to pretty expensive (for just a muffler)

I used to own a Corrado and the OEM muffler alone was over $600 from the dealer. (And it wasn't even stainless steel)

So $200ish seems like a bargain to me!
