Default More help needed for a B18B1

Last week I started noticing a substantial loss of horse power. I'm also losing oil, i'd say about a quart a week or so. It's not dripping, I don't have any puddles, I don't have the aurora borealis coming out of my tail pipe either. Could these problems be connected. Does any one know what would be going on with my baby?

Get a compression test. How many miles do you drive in a week? If less than 1,000 you probably are in bad need of new rings. Welcome to my world!!! You can get a JDM B18B1 for about $800-$1,000 or pay more than that for a rebuild.

I did a compression test, it's perfect. Thats why I'm so confused about it. The car has 160,000 miles on it. I drive it about 800 miles a week i guess. New rings is probably what i'm gonna need to do. No doubt the whole motor should be rebuilt. Little by little it'll happen... Sucks when you have a small budget for these things.

What were your #s? Hard to imagine the compression didn't go down in 160K miles.

165 all around, and I just checked it like 3 weeks ago when I replaced the spark plug wires.

165 is not perfect. It's good that they were even but, they should probably be around 180.

how is your head gasket? no oil in the antifreeze?

How about valve adjustment??

valve guides gone bad maybe? Wouldnt affect compression, but would leak oil...

Did you compare spark plugs, id bet that one will be all black, dirty, smudgey...I predict cyl #3

EDIT: If checked you compression 3 weeks ago, but you noticed loss of power only a week ago...wouldnt you want to do ANOTHER compression test?
