Default how do i remove a seized nut

i totally screwed up one of the 14mm nut that holds the stock 2 piece header together. it when from the hexagon shape to a worn down almost circle. i've tried wd40 and tried to bang a 13mm on to it. i then tried to saw it off but that will take forever as i already wasted 3 hrs for this one nut.

if anyone has ever had this problem what did you do? shop or diy?

sears has a tool that you hammer on over the stripped nut and when you try to loosen it the tool digs into the nut and removes it with ease.

i would try welding a nut onto that broken stud n let it cool...then warm that flange up with a torch til its bright orange then twist that biotch out! if you dont have access to these tools...just bring it to the shop...

are you trying to take out the stock manifold and replace it with after market? if thats the case...just take out your fan and radiator for more clearance and drop it out from the bottom

that's not even necessary. just keep wiggling it around and it'll drop out.

That's probably the best way. It's a socket-looking thing that's cut so that when you turn it counterclockwise to loosen, it digs into the offending bolt.

How bout some vice grips? Can you fit any in there? Welding something on there will definitely work, but not too many people have access to something like that.

thanks for the ideas guys really appreciate it.

its the last nut nearest the radiator fan and as u know its very hard to get to. a vise grip is hard to fit in. and no i dont have a welder but i have many torches which i dont want to use.

i think imma just take it to a shop near my house because its closer than sears.

I bought a cheap $8 grinder from the flea market that would take it off in about 20 seconds. I use it for everything, best 8 bucks I ever spent.

you i had this prolem before.

The nut was easy to get to though.

if you can manage to fit a impact gun to its side this will work.

I went to chevron and asked a tech to remove a FUBAR nut with rust.

He used an impact chisel and chiseled the base nut and budged it and he pulled it off.

I opted to give gim $20, but only wanted a cigarette.

Call around!!!

See if someone has an "IMAPCT CHISEL"

works wonders.

U will have to buy another nut though

Yes...like someone said before, there is a removal tool from Sears. I would personally just hack it off with a circular saw.

so do i remove a broken screw from my rim?

its a screw for the center caps, i over tightened and it broke off.

the mechanic got a drilled, and drilled it off, and guess what, made it worse, now it doesnt look repairable.

i can try to drill the entire stud out and just replace the inner thread since my rim came with a replacement thingy.

but i was wondering how do i take the old one out?

let me know
