Axle questions!!!!! ASAP!!!!!!
My axles are knocking and I've got new ones coming in tomorrow but I need to install them. Anyone have any directions and tips. I've got a '93 Prelude type s. Help!!!!!!!!!!!
VERY SIMPLIFIED, IM LAZY
1. Calm the hell down
2. Remove axle nut (36mm)
3. Remove Lower Ball joint (17mm)
4. Pull spindle from axle
5. PRY axle from tranny/intermediate shaft
6. compare old axle to new, making sure they are the same length
7. reinstall

thanks guys, I hear that I shouldn't take both axles out b/c the synchro pin thing will fall into the tranny pan of something. is this true??? About how long will this take me???
you will also have to take the shock fork and tie rod off.
also - the axle is a bitch to pull out of the intermediate shaft. In most cases, its brains over brawn - but not this one

ya u take off the hub, loosen it with the car down off jacks and the wheel on.......and use a big breaker torque bar cuz it is a bitch to get off w/o what i just said. once u get it loose on both sides, jack up car on both sides, take off brake assembly (calipers, rotors, etc..) then either the top or bottom (you choose, i chose top), take out the cotter pin and u have to seperate that (forgot the name) arm from the upper control arm with. use a 2 prong fork (big one) or crobar to take it off then pull the axle. put grease and push that ***** back in, put back together......sounds hard but is about 45 min job if ya ask me
well, i did the axles today and it wasn't that hard at all. Thanks for the info, you guys saved me a good $300
Now I'm going to lay back and relax a little
