Default end of an era? rip to the D series?

Hey all

found this on TOV... new 1.8L iVtec engine to be introduced into new civic... wonder what it will be called... D18 maybe? swapping this might be more economical than B18 non vtec swap...

http://www.vtec.net/news/news-...76015

I'm glad they've finally put out a engine with more power for the civic.

6300 peak power?
It's the only way Honda can get the porkers to move design MORE TORQUE. I like where they're going with it in terms of efficency.

Thats very true.

Hope theyre not going European on the engine characters, but so far. That isint the way they go. :D

By european character i mean that its easy and good to use in here. Low rpm torq and power. I quess some people in here (i'm not included) prefers thatkinda character.

I like to rev my chainsaw. :D :D :D Nothing happens before 5000rpm.

Waiting for my B...

more displacement, but at the same time, its smaller, lighter, more powerfull, and more efficient than the current 1.6 and 1.7L.

If I understood the Finn guy correctly, I agree.

It sounds like they're moving the civic closer to the Golf.

Is this the end high-strung rev happy motors in featherweight econoboxes?

Engine type and number of cylinders Water-cooled in-line 4-cylinder
Displacement (cc) 1,799
Bore x Stroke (mm) 81 x 87.3
Max. Output (horsepower/rpm) 2 140
Max. Torque (lb-ft./rpm) 2 128
Compression Ratio 10.5:1

Bore and stroke is VERY VERY close to a B18C motor.
