Head Gasket for turboed EK.
I did a search and didn't find much.
I blew the stock gasket and have been looking everywhere, and most of them don't sound too promising.
Can anyone tell me what a good head gasket would be for a 2000 sohc vtec with 12 pounds of boost?
Thanks
,
Chris

no keeps the studs from stretching which causes gasket to go...

also help prevent the head lifting during boost. i am too also looking into the cometic HG. they make HG for boost by using copper seals. d16y8 stock bore is 75mm [i belive] but they only list a 75.5mm. so im assuming you have to bore it a tad?

I went ahead and called up a technician, and he said for the cometic head gasket you would want a 75.5 m (for d16y8). So no boring is involved.

im in very very .. repeat very rough stages of learning to tune my car, but have been doing so, the hard way for a couple years now.. i kept burning up stock headgaskets trying to run hi-boost on 91 on an h22.. i've had the motor upwards of 26psi on pump and manage to blow a couple gaskets in the process..
a friend of mine and shop owner advised me not to try a cometic gasket after a motor he built(all motor) blew through one w/ lil effort--- so i install one taking a chance that it would hold up better than a stock one.. well it lasted a whole day.. on "less" boost... and it blew so bad... i ended up stranded on the side of the road w/ my motor pissing coolant into the exhaust and smoking everywhere.. of course i know it had alot to do w/ my tune.. but apparently the stocker was able to hold up for weeks at least.. but 1 day?!... after doing some research i decide to rebuild a block and have my machining done by GE.. odd.. they suggest using stock headgaskets on hondas.. they even use them on their race cars... after my experience and their results from their race cars.. . well take it for what thats worth. personally i wouldnt try another one again.

Well, I'll tell you one thing. It should be close to enough. If the technicial lied it's called misrepresentation and is liable for a law suit. What he stated is more than puffery.
