Default What radiator do you recommend? SMALLER one needed!!

Ok, I had a turbo setup that utilized the factory radiator, but now since I've upgraded turbos, it now requires to go to a shorter Civic short-style radiator.

My problem: A Civic radiator does not fit! It sits too tall and the only way to make it fit is to cut out part of the crossmember down below to drop it down! I am not going to cut it out.

Is there an aftermarket CRX Radiator that is shorter than the full length one that's factory? Similar to the Civic "half radiator"? But the same height at the CRX one? PLEASE HELP!!!

I have an EG radiator in there now and it sits too high. I don't wanna hack at my crossmember or anything below to drop it down, and since it's too high, it props my hood up (huge gap between headlight/bumper and hood). Any suggestions to do?

also if your using a half size, move it all the way to the passenger side, i see thats what almost everyone does, who runs a turbo, you may need to fab up some mounts but its nothing too difficult

I don't have enuff room to tilt it unfortunately without it hitting my downpipe...

Yes it is a half style one. Already shoved as far to the passenger side as possible.

I got to thinkin' that if I cut off the top mounting tab I might be able to gain the clearance I need... Gonna try it tonight.

But really, is there a good way to get an EG half-radiator to fit in a CRX without cuttin anything off the bottom?

I've heard Neon radiators go in without a problem. This next part is just from memory, but I think the radiator comes from a SOHC Neon from the mid 90s I think. Run a search for neon rad. I know i've read something about it somewhere.

That is very helpful... I was even open to the possibility of a radiator from a different car that may/may not fit as well... I will look into it...

Does anyone else have any suggestions?

c&r makes a half rad for the civics\crx's too. It will be the next rad I will buy as it comes with a fan and a rad cap.

Is it designed to be a "stock" replacement, just half the size? Cuz I need one that is the same height as the CRX one, but the half size like the EGs.

here's what mine looks like, it's a dual core modine for a 92-00 civic, though i still have the stock fan on it right now, until this weekend which i'm going to go get a universal pusher/ puller fan taht is smaller in size, it made plenty of room for a turbo to be sneaked into the bay.

Full Race makes a half radiator that is the correct height for a CRX.
It uses a PWR core. It was the only one i could find that would fit my setup.
Very happy with it.

Thank you for the info guys... HT members are always a lot of help.

I figured if I cut off the stock mounting tab on the top of the EG rad, I can gain the clearance I need, and then fab up some sort of top mount.

Then just rest it where it's at, between the xmember and the bottom of the core supp.

It's a tight fit, no movement, even when not bolted into place!

I want Full-Race's tho eventually.

Thanks guys!

It's specifically for a CRX as a "stock replacement", but half the size? (aside from relocating one of the bottom mounts?)

If his EG radiator is too tall then the Fluidyne EG and Koyo Rads will also be too tall. I tried a stock EG rad, Fluidyne rad and the PWR shorty. And the Fluidyne and OEM EG were both too tall when used with my Full Race traction bar. The pics that Full Race uses for the PWR shorty that rioninja posted is actually the PWR shorty on my CRX.

Here is a pic of my PWR next to the Fluidyne EG rad and OEM EG rad:

I see that in that setup the radiator extends over towards the driver side about an inch or so. I know if I had that exact same radiator setup on my car, it would be really close to my downpipe.

Yeah I noticed that on mine. I had to hack out a small section of the fan housing to make it fit near my DP... However I wonder if that DP is the explaination for my water gettin' hotter... My temp needle's climbing higher than before... Is that to be expected?
