Default ES motor mounts installed

alright i got the front mount installed because i did a search and people were saying how i just need the front one.....well the car still hops quite a bit and that sucks. wheel hop is one of the worst things you can do to your car isn't it? well what can wheel hop damage on my car? and also what else should I be getting since the motor mounts didn't do that much? =/

Well, I think you should install the rear motor mount if you can. Wheel hop isn't the "worst" thing you can do to you car, but its by no means anything good, it can damage axles, hubs and trannys after a while. However, there are a lot of things that contribute to wheel hop, suspension is probably the biggest, and then you can buy a full out bushing kit if you want to get crazy. There are a lot of ideas though.

Get an NRG engine damper from the classifieds on H-T for cheap. Combined with MM inserts your engine will not move.

You should re-read what you wrote here and try to figure out what's wrong.

Bahaha! I didn't even notice that.

DEFINATELY get a stiffer suspension before you do anything else.

Stock shocks on ebay coils are NOT going to cut it. Replace them with some quality aftermarket suspension components first.

Also, when I only had the front ES mount installed I noticed just a slight difference. After I installed the rear mount, there was a world of difference. The rear mount is what makes the biggest difference. If you don't mind the vibrations, install the rear mount.

They make NRG dampers for H22 preludes?

Also, are the ES/prothane bushings self lubricating, or do you have to drill them for zerk fittings or something of the like?

From what ive read, the black ES bushings are graphite impregnated to act as a self lubricant, but the red and other colored ones are not. I just installed the front and rear inserts but i havent gotten the rest of the swap finished yet to give them a review. maybe this weekend
i'll be pissed if they squeek and i have to take them out to drill in a grease fitting like you said!

The Accord damper works-->https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=1335604

The motor mount inserts are just filler for the stock motor mounts. There's no way I could see that you could add any grease to them other than just squeezing some in between the insert and the rubber in the mount. They don't fit 100% perfectly tight, so I doubt the grease would last long. Mine don't really squeak anyhow...

I've got the red ones, they don't squeak at all.

I don't think there's enough movement for there to be squeaking from any kind of motor mount insert. Maybe if the actual motor mount were broken underneath them or something . . . .

Is it true that with aftermarket motor mount inserts that there is an increase in engine vibration?

If so, is it at the point where you regret it or can't stand it? For ES ... aren't the black ones for "street" and the red ones for "race" ?

Yes.

That's a personal question; there are days when it REALLY gets on my **** and others that I'm okay with it. You can opt to raise your idle to about 1100 rpm, and the harmonic frequencies will cancel , ultimatly dampening out the vibration.
