Default s300 and JDM Ecu

I heard that the s300 is not compatible with a jdm ecu? So does this mean I have to get another ecu?

cut/dry? if i get a usdm ecu and just swap it, lets say a p28 swapped in instead of my jdm p30, will my car run the same? Until I get the s300?

JDM P72's can be used because case is larger than a P30.

You can use a JDM ECU without problems, you just need to be creative when mounting the S300.

Directly from the hondata web site

The s300 is made to fit in a full frame ECU case (US and most markets), so will not fit in a JDM ECU case.

Good Luck

What do you mean mounting the S300, they say the hardware is all internal with a usb port added...

I don't see it as the S200 little box that you can mount.

Save your self a headache and use what the maufactures suggest.

That does not apply to the JDM P72 because it has a larger case and a knock sensor board. You only posted half of the answer on the Hondata page.

No. The s300 will only fit in the larger rectangular frame ECUs. [/i]ECUs with knock sensor boards are OK.</TD></TR></TABLE>

I might be stating the obvious here but the s300's main feature is that it is compatible with obd1 and 2 ecu's right.

From what i can see its mainly down to the knock board location, JDM is above the 28pin socket im sure moving that to be mounted outside the case and then trimming the middle support it would work ?

Update - I am looking for a USDM ECU.

The support bridge for the knock sensor board is a major roadblock and even if you remove the bridge the daughterboard itself will be in the way.

If somebody wants to make some monEy I will trade (2) unchipped JDM P72's for a single P28/30/72.
