i just want some confirmation on where to set the cam gear at when putting timing belt on a d16y8. do you line it up with the cylinder head surface, or do you line it up to the pointers? you know the one that is right below and right above the cylinder head surface. Or do you line it up with the pointer at the 7 oclock position?

are you telling me no one knows? come on guys im putting it back together right now...

 

you put it so the word up, is UP. there's a mark on the cam gear on both sides, these should line up with the surface of the head.

 

I agree, that is how I did mine 9 months ago.
