ITR tranny compared to S2K compared to LS
I'm thinking of doing a JDM ITR swap into my dying 96 LS. The S2000 tranny is awesome and I'm just wondering where along the spectrum the ITR tranny lies. Does it shift as quickly/easily?
Let me know if you've had any of these cars.
thanks

The throws are a bit longer (although still short) in the ITR vs the S2k. The action is similar. Overall Id give the nod to the S2k but the R tranny is still very, very good.
I was concerned that all B-series trannies were the same with the difference only being in gear ratios. It sounds like that's not the case.
So the ITR throws are shorter than an LS?

Like night & day.
S2K throw is even shorter than ITR. It's noticeable & I think it's almost too short (S2K).

ITR is well ahead of an LS and a couple of notches below the S2K.
You'll like it. Remember to get everything from the JDM transmission. Now, I can be wrong but I think the shift linkage is a bit different and also the shifter itself (ITR vs LS). And while you're down there, consider upgrading the shifter bushings. I'm not a huge fan of polyurethane bushings so I'd recommend either Spoon or Mugen.
Had an ITR and now I own a S2K. Driven a couple of LSs too.

NO NO NO. The S2000 is my sun car and the Integra is my rain car. The B18B1 is almost dead and needs to be replaced. I figured I might as well get a better engine considering what rebuilds cost. Also, the better driving the Integra is, the less miles I'll stack up on the S2000.
I should have figured something like that out from your avatar.
BTW - nothing wrong with the ES shifter bushing kit, a nice improvement from a stock ITR for only like 15$.

yup yup.
and to the original poster - consider the entire itr swap, as the tranny works well with the powerband of the motor.

To be honest, don't spend $$ on a beater. Beaters are to be beat on & get you from point A to point B. Save the $$ for your S or a big screen TV
(or your future daily driver that's 10x better than a beater).
(or your future daily driver that's 10x better than a beater).
That's sound logic. I don't really want to spend money on the S2000 since FI is the only cost efective way to add power. Also, if I track the integra, matenance should be cheaper than it would be for the S2000.
Here's what it comes down to:
I can sell the teg right now probably for around $2-2.5K or swap the motor and fix the body for around $8K total(including JDM ITR conversion).
Is there a better option for $10.5K considering the end result will be newly painted and have a low mileage JDM motor/tranny?
What I see as the advantages are:
1.) A good track car
2.) A good rain car
3.) A car I can put a roofrack on(for bikes)
4.) A car I can have passengers under 12 in(airbags in S2000)...
5.) It's also my first car...
I do have a big screen too...
