Default intake/battery relocating

alright guys. i just installed some off brand ram air intake on my 91 std hatch. 1 problem though, it doesnt clear the battery. so i took the battery out and was thinking of doing the relocating the battery to the hatch. but ive ran into a couple problems with 15 different stores telling me different things.

(welding shop) they had 1 guage wire, and said it would be a huge fire hazard running cable to the back to supply the battery with power, and would give too much resistance or some bs and wouldnt fire up the battery

(wellie auto) they said it wouldnt be a fire hazard at all, completely comon to relocate the battery. and recommended me buying a $100 kit for it that comes with everything i guess. or they said to get longer piping so it would clear the battery.

(exhaust pros) they said they could install it for me, but hes like talking about cold air intake and said something about water getting under the hood and messing **** up. but i have ram intake, wtf does that have to do with water???

and i dun see wuts so ******* complicating about this. if i relocate the battery, ill need a positive and ground/negative cable with terminals running through the passenger side firewall and plugging into something that i havent gotten that far yet lol. OR, i could possibly get a smaller sized battery that the intake piping would clear, but then im worried about hood clearance. OR i could get longer piping and it would clear the battery. but id much rather just get the ******* battery out of there. and as u can see im kinda confused on this since ive gotten 15 different answers on wut im trying to do.. my main question would be how thick (gauge) of cabling would i need. terminals, where does the **** hook up to under the hood????

also where the hell do i find this 20 feet of cable??

thx guys im really confused, so any help for a noob would be cool

How about this for easy. Get a smaller battery.

BTW, are you putting this air intake on a dpfi setup? If so then yeah it wont fit right and it will give you no gain in power. When you go to mpfi it makes a huge difference and the intakes will fit.

One word.......traction. What good is it if all the weight is in the rear.

lol... Did you just say.. "what good does a battery do in the back" It allows for...trubo pipeing....intakes...and if you car is off balance on the scales... then it helps the balance... why ask such a dumb question? lol its a sohc...traction isnt a issuse...jesus...

The reason you need to worry about the size of wire is because they'll melt if there not the right size (not sure what kind of wire they use). Do a search.

Ding ding! Winn3r! Moving 30 lbs from one corner to another isn't going to turn it into a tire-destroying machine, but it will cure a corner weight issue very effectively.

And for gods sake use a fuse or circuit breaker. Your car WILL burn to the ground if you don't.

Thats a silly thing to say...

But to clarify, if you are DPFI, the intake is in a different spot compared to the mpfi. I know cause I put my ebay intake on my dpfi manifold and had hood/battery clearance issues. When I went mpfi, it fit like a glove.

There is an article on http://www.fourthgenhatch.com about this, but the site isn't working for me right now. I've found that site to be very informative and easy to understand.

Whoa buddy slow down. I meant this for drag racing. Not track. And if you cant find room up front with the battery there, then you shouldnt be working on cars. Especially with a sohc. I have a turbo b16 with 2 1/2in charge pipes with the battery in stock location. F-ing cake. Besides, longer wire = loss in power. If you have the right set up( wheels, tires, suspention) any EF will handle like its on rails.

You come here to flame, only to be hipicritical, and give lowsy advise. I feel sorry for you
