Default Crx Pop-Up Sunroof HELP !!! How can I get rid of it?

i have one of those cheap aftermarket pop-up sunroofs in my hf that was already there when i bought it. I couldnt pass up the deal on the car but this roof is making me not spend any money on the car because i would never try to show it off with having that roof or paint it or anything until i how to get rid of this. Now do i have any options on another way to go with this to put an actual sliding rood or anything? Or else fill it like a factory roof just what are my options? i want to love this car like i have loved all of the other crxs i have owned.

New roof skin

Drill a couple of spot welds and replace, super easy

I was wondering if anyone has done this as well? I agree with the new roof skin but how much would that be and anyone know where to get one? I like the idea of glass top even if it isnt jdm like the whole roof glass i have heard of a few people doing it but never seen it. It would probably need some kind of support... Anything else

i had the same shitty sunroof, thing leaked like hell all over my girls heads, although entertaining, it got to be a pain in the ***. I just got rid of the car lmao but yea I HIGHLY doubt you can fit a stock si moonroof in there, it didnt look to be a similar size at all cause i had an extra si moonroof laying around and lined it up. Your best bet is to find a crx in a junkyard and get awhole new rooof. or fill it in with some lexan and do a clean job.

That was an option i was thinking to get that cut a put in but I wonder who would do something like that? And the whole new roof thing is that something any somewhat qualified body technician could do?

Only thing i would worry about with the spot welds is the metal twisting and giving you a dented up roof. take it to a shop and see if they can install a oem roof.(my sister did this in her 00 celica.. she had a pos sun roof put in by some random shop and it leaked so then she went to the dealer and got a oem sun roof put in)

I would kill to have the glasstop but that would probably be 1500-2500 dollars before have the car repainted thats not even what my car is worth itself

Well remember the88-91 Civic Si had the sliding glass too, and they didn't use it for the CRX. Why? It's too big. If you look at the sunroof on the CRX when it's open over the top of the car, it hangs over the back window just a hair. If you tried to make something like that move through the roof, you'd get about 10 inches back and find a very immobile roll hoop in the roof of the car. Lemme tell you, it's a bitch to cut through with a sawzall.

Go with the factory sunroof and ditch the pop ups...those belong on a Subaru Brats.LOL Check out Delsolemite's sunroof for sale.

You will need to first find out if the OEM one is bigger than your pop up sunroof and go from there. If your pop up is bigger than you may want to look into changing the roof skin if it is affordable and in your price range.

Man, when you're that fast and that furious, you don't have time to worry about functionality...

If you can get past the car in the example, it wouldn't be that bad on a fairly stock car. Because of the Texas summer I was seriously considering one....I'm just wondering what you do when it rains? Probably doesn't leak anymore then the sunroof he has now.

If i get a chance i will but its not pretty to me... maybe someones thing but not mine. And I know the stock si sunroof is bigger than my pop up one. But in your opinion how much would the new roof skin cost to be installed and all? Maybe thats the route I will go

Here is a link to my page where I show how to re-roof a hatchback. There are also links on the page to another guy that re-roof'd his CRX.
