A couple of questions on a JDM B18C-R motor swap...
Did a search, but couldn't find what i was looking for (or maybe i missed it).
Anyway, here is the deal...
We just installed a JDM B18C typeR motor into a 94 Civic DX hatchback. Everything seems to be fine, it runs ok but a little rough.
We purchased the motor from JDM Honda Parts and were, honestly, dissapionted with what we got. Both axles were bad, alternator was totally corroded and fried and so was the distributor, the alternator pulley was bent, and the valve cover is beyond massacred. They exchanged only one axle and alternator, and gave us a distributor from a B20 motor. We had to swap the internals of the two distributors to make it work.
Then, there was a bunch of little things that were bad as well, but i'm not going to write a book about it now. But we had to fork out extra cash in the end, so what was supposed to be a $4300 "complete changeover" quickly turned into a $5300 changeover and counting.
So we got the car up and running, but there are still little things we need to take care of. It was running very rough at first, but it's a little better now after we replaced the spark plug cables and did some additional wiring (using a 2000 GSR harness, jumper, and OEM ECU that came with the motor).
So anyway, here are some parts we are going to change, and we would like to hear your opinions/suggestions:
-What type of spark plugs to use?
-Should we get radiator hoses for integras for best fitment?
-Distributor cap&rotor - which ones? Any B-series???
Please post any info we could use, all suggestions are welcome.
Also, we're glad to be a part of the Honda-Tech community. It is a very helpful place and a great way to exchange experiences with other honda owners/enthusiasts.
I have been into Hondas for a long time, but mostly Preludes. This is my first Honda hybrid
Thank You

That's too bad you had a bad experience. Perhaps next time you should check out http://www.hmotorsonline.com
1) Just get some standard NGK's from your local autoparts store. Honda will try to sell you some $1000 platinum plugs.
2) Yes. If you are using the stock Civic radiator though, the Integra hoses will be a little big. You'll have to use a worm gear clamp to hold them tight.
3) Cap & rotor - Any DOHC VTEC B-series will work.

I put NGK plug wires and plugs(u dont need the platnium ones) and I cant remeber the brand for the dizzy but it was some cheap japanese brand but it runs great with it. The napa stock gsr hoses fit with light modification. Just gotta shorten a lil here and there...
Got it all figured out.
I put in the regular NGK spark plugs that Pep-Boys have listed for GSR's. Heat range 6. I will upgrade those at a later time. I also got the hoses for the same car and they fit perfect.
As far as the cap&rotor, I just cleaned it out a little and it's ok for now.
Thanks guys.
