IceVest. The best thing between you and your Nomex.
Sure this is a "plug" but I thought this product deserved some attention.
I'm curious if anyone in the racing community has used this particular product or anything of similar fashion. How have you liked them? Do they help your focus on hot days? Do these make your hot race car more bearable to race on hot days?

I used one for about a year, and they do work pretty well. Keeps your body temps down and you don't feel so dazed towards the end of a sprint race on a hot day. The biggest hassle with them is finding some way to keep the ice packs frozen. I had a mini fridge in my trailer, but if I had it cold enough to refreeze the ice packs quickly, it also froze the beer.
I finally went to a F.A.S.T. cool suit with the ice chest and recirculating cold water. Stays cold all race and just throw some more ice in the cooler to get ready to go again.

You are right however, it is Steve, though he looks quite a bit younger in that picture.
I have one, it is especially nice during yellow flags and cool down laps....

I think I'd rather have the FAST cool shirt system that I have. It's easy to find ice at or near a track, it's not always so easy to find a fridge.
I have an Ice Vest too. A simple system that is quite effective but I have not yet found a great way to keep them cold without having a freezer. I havenot been racing enough over the time I have had it to really need a good system. I wondered about trying a little dry ice in a styrofoam cooler and seeing how that lasted. You can put them in your regular ice food cooler but the melt factor and water would be a hassle. I want to keep them cold but really rather not have them be wet inside my suit.
Ingersol is a character for sure.

We found that the BEST way to keep them frozen without having a freezer is to have a small cooler with dry ice. Infact we found that a small block (10$ worth) of dry ice kept it more frozen then our freezer at home.
And know ya know! Dry ice

I love the smell of the dry ice wafting up out of the top of the suit into my helmet while sitting on pregird.
