Default 1993 RS setup?????? (future track toy)

Hey guys dont flame but I am looking for some setup info for a 93 Integra RS.

I just did my first track event at VIR 2 weeks ago and had a blast. The only problem is I was using the car my father and I built for Autocrossing. His 88 CRX Si (the 2nd National level ST car I have built in the past 2 years..)

Anyway I got home and started looking at the local forums and found this car listed as a 93 LS with blown motor....turns out its an RS crank windows, and no sunroof. . . Needless to say for $500 I couldnt pass this up. The chassis is straight as an arrow, and I will be doing a Xsi B16 swap with Honda LSD (I dont want to race it just track day the car)...

So that said, I plan on replacing all the bushings, SPSS3 Koni shocks, GC thinking 450/550 rates, Kirk or Autopower Roll bar, Buddy Club seats, basic I/H/E combo, BUT I'm not sure on what rear sway bar to run I'm thinking progress....But I dont know if there is a better one on the market..

So my main question is did I miss anything???/

Thanx guys as alway for your input

****edit... I know rebulid the brakes ,rebuilt axels, and tight crossmember bolt...<------dont ask

It SO deserves to become an ITA car. How can you be so cruel?

Rear trailing arm bushings will be shot... master cylinder... wheel bearings... Just go through all the potential wear items and replace them up front. Better to spend a few weekends and some $$ up front and then when you hit the track there's no headaches. You might also want to consider the OPM radius rod 'bushings'.

Kirk is right - that is one of the top cars in ITA, if club racing holds any interest.

Are you keeping the car streetable, or towing it everywhere?

Skip the Buddy Club stuff unless you get a good deal. Check Momo, Sparco and other brands also.

If it's a track-only car, consider a full custom cage instead of a rollbar.

Rear swaybar should be at least 21mm. Many of the Honda tuners make them in 21mm or larger. The stock ITR bar also works well (does it fit the 93? can't remember which body style that is).

Yes.

90-93 is the 2nd gen, 94-01 are the later style.

Thanx Guys...

I wish I could race wheel to wheel but the $ just isnt there. I plan on doing 3-4 track events a year, and use the car to run back and forth to the store. I have a company car so I really dont even need much of a DD car. The Buddy Club stuff was just an idea, I have had the Sparco Fighter in my last two cars and I think the Pro2000 is the RR version of the same seat, so one of those seats will probably be in the car.

We will be keeping the engine from the car and when I get some time I will start to pull it apart to see how bad the damage is. And who knows if things change the car may get a custom cage and run wheel 2 wheel.

Is this a sugestion? The Progress bar is adjustable and is 22mm, I kinda thought that would be a better way to go in the begining as I could set the car up with less rear bar while I learned how to drive.

Anyway thanx again

Michael

If your looking for a Pro2000 seat, I should have one available soon for REAL cheap, its only been used one season. Waiting for my Circuit seat, let me know if you need it soon.

Well the OEM ITR bar can be had cheap. I've got a comptech bar - it wasnt cheap, but I'd look for some way you can reinforce that subframe with a big rear bar.

Mike - this seat would fit you pretty well, if you wanted to go that route. The pro2000 is a bit too tight for me, and i'm carrying a few more lbs than you

vbspec, if you're going to be at either Hondaday this weekend, or BeaveRun Labor day weekend, I'll be there with a pair of Pro2000s, you're welcome to sit in them to see how you fit.

Edit: Not for sale, just for sitting

I don't think the Progress bar is adjustable. The Comptech rear sway/tiebar combo is very nice. I'd get that instead of the Progress if I had the money. A little custom work is necessary though.

Also, for I/H/E, I can reccomend the Greddy MX (or SP2), Injen CAI, and DC header. It's worked well for me. Lots of midrange! 115ft-lbs from 3K to 6K on the stock 209K motor that has bad compression and high leakdown! I wouldn't reccomend the B16 for the DA chassis Integra, not enough torque IMO.

Well as far as the seats they are going to have to wait til last, so I'll have some time to figure out what I want. And as far as the rear bar Password has a 96 ITR rear bar http://www.passwordjdm.com/pro...D=216 I am not to sure what else I would need to mount it up.... But Ill search later

And as far as the engine.... I think (and maybe wrong) The B16 w/LSD could be super fun. I figure I would see 2nd a few times at VIR like on the north course heading up the hill.. I dont know I just know the engine in the car right now wont run and is missing the ECU.

But if the LS engine would be better let be know. I was also thinking of picking up a LS and getting a Quaife diff and changing the FD but then you would be above the price of a b16. I dont know, I think both would be fun.

Hopefully the removal of parts begins this weekend.... Or when this bathroom remodel my Fiance has me doing is over....

Thanx again guys

The LS Engine is great. B16's are a lot of fun, but real gutless when they're not on the big cam. To be honest, I like my modd'ed LS motor more than I like the stock ITR engine - I just i still had the ITR gearbox

I also like my LS engine more than my ITR engine. Can't say anything about B16s, as I've never driven one, but who cares about revving the **** out of something when you have some decent torque?

The headers? They just dont make great power. But with the DA you've got that big from crossmember in the way, so your options are somewhat limited.

hey Rzille, didn't he buy a 1993 integra? like the ones that are the same as the 1990-1992s?

im no real expert on the DA's but i swore they had some funky mounting style for the sway bars.

Or did i drink one to many coronas tonight and get the DA's and the EF civic confused?

The Buddy Club seat is fairly inexpensive, but it's nothing special, of course. Its main selling point to some people is that it's very narrow on top. Where the Pro2000 is 325mm wide in the kidneys, the Buddy Club is only 280mm.

In my opinion, they make good use of the LS's powerband. When I put the DC on my car (91) I noticed gains from 3K-redline. I'm sure there are headers out there that raise the peak hp more, but IMO the DC is best for cars that are mildy modified. If we're talking about LS's with different cams and higher compression, I wouldn't reccomend the DC. Besides, with tax the header was only $300
