Question about tuning with Hondata
My GSR build up is almost completed with Jun 3's, a PnP head, and CTR pistons, and skunk 2 manifold. I have a hondata unit but it is not installed yet. Can I tune the car as soon as I pick it up without breaking in the pistons? Do I have to wait for the rings to seal properly before tuning?
The ECU is still stock, it has not been socketed for Hondata yet, as the Hondata dealer will do that and tune the car also. When do you suggest that I tune the car. I do not want to drive around using the wrong fuel/timing maps that the stock ECU will have without tuning.
Talk about a catch 22 situation!

You will have to take it easy while breaking in the new rings anyway, so you'll be ok on the stock maps during the first thousand miles. It would be more cost effective to break in the motor then tune on a dyno.
Remember proper break in procedure. Not letting the rings seat will do way more damage than having less than ideal maps. Go easy on your timing too.
