goes into gear but won't move
when i was driving one day, the car just reved up and it was in gear and i pulled over and then put it into first gear, it went into gear but the car wouldnt move, it is a gsr transmission. i checked the axels and the axels seemed fine and none of em were broken or anything. i put it into gear while it was up on a lift and went to look at the flywheel and it was moving fien but the axels wasnt moving.

Well, when my tranny blew - it went into gear, but didn't actually go into it. I was driving, went to get into 3rd and it grinded - so I thought I didn't clutch in, or move the shifter all the way so I got it into 3rd, but the car just freereved. I was like wtf, so I go into 4th, same thing - slow down, back into 2nd... well, long story short, I pulled the tranny and opened it up - there's a small bracket on the bar that the shifter linkage attatches to that broke. I threw one on from a old ls tranny I had and it fit fine and works. I would use what happened to me as a last resort, but from what you say - it sounds pretty damn close. I would imagine unsprung would put more stress on the internals of the tranny (I beat the crap outta mine with a excedy clutch and it - the tranny - gave in finally after the abuse). hth.
