Kumho Ecsta 711
I do some SCCA racing every so often and do alot of freeway driving..according to the a distription of this tire:
"With the latest in tread compound technology, the 711 is designed to deliver the best high-speed performance in hydroplaning resistance and wet handling. Wide Tread Contact Area provides excellent dry grip, stability at high speeds, and handling. Wide circumferential grooves channel water away to provide superior wet traction"
They sound pretty good and the tread wear of 340AA will help them last.
My question is anyone run on these tires and what have been your overall rating for wet or dry traction?
1 - 10... 10 being excellent
Thanks

I have used Kumho Ecsta 711 for Track Driving, Autocrossing and Daily Driving in the dry and wet and these tires do none of them well. The only up side is that they're dirt cheap and last a long time.
Afterthought: If you're trying to go for the "Loudest tire squeal" award these might be for you.

I currently have a set on my '91 Si hatch (195/55-15 on 15x6" GSR wheels). They might be a hair better than Goodyear Eagle RS-A's, but the grip levels are nowhere near any of the high-performance summer street tires. Even on damp surfaces, the half-tread 14" Azenis 215's I have crammed onto a set of 14x5" phone dials blow them out of the water, and it's an even bigger difference on dry pavement.
I have a set on my daily driver CRX but I bought them primarily based on price and not wearing out immediately. I wanted Azenis but could not justify the wear and price for my real world use. I have not driven on them in monster rains but they have been fine for general daily duty in a not pushing the envelope regular use way. I would not think about trying to use them in a competition with expectations of sticking well though as I don't think it is realistic to expect a lot out of them or that they would be any better than any other mid-range performance street tire. For daily use, they'll be fine but don't have any dreams of it being a great double duty race tire as well. They don't suck and they don't impress but for the size the price is very right.
I honestly find they are prefect for daily use and have ok grip levels for the money. I also had the 712's before they were great in the rain but load and squealy and wore out like nothing..
I did take the 711's out on the track for about 20 mins and i would not recomend doing that unless you have absoulty no intention of going faster then just curising out there. They were underteering and flexing like crazy...and they did not like the heat at all.

i've used them in the rear at a few DE's.
215/45/16's 215's up front, 215/40/17 711's in the rear, and well, it was pretty scary but in the end not much worse than the 205/50/16 pirelli p0's i had tried earlier in the day. . .

I used a set of 215/45/17's for daily driving on my Prelude. I thought they were good for the money, but wouldn't suggest then for any type of racing if you want to do well.
I just wore my set out, and purchased a set of Kumho ASX's in lieu of the 711's this time around because they are rated for snow, not sure how that is going to go. However, I must say they are much better in the rain. They were about $8 more tire I believe, still not very expensive.

Had them for about a year now, ~15k miles... 205-50/15s on the GSR...

I concur with all of these assessments. Squealy, average grip, wear well, REALLY cheap (45/each).

This is the only assessment I disagree with. I've driven through some torrential rains this summer and never felt uneasy.

Just came back from the gap using these (205/40/17) and the grip wasn't that impressive dry (and mine didn't make any squealing...it sounded like I was just pushing them with a "shhhh" sound).
In the rain on sunday, we went through once and I thought they actually did quite well considering. Not a race tire but I think they are perfect for Daily driving and seem to still hold the road decent in the wet.
My 2 cents!
