How important are Camshafts on our Turbo Cars ???
this important
this is a before and after dyno graph of just a simple camshaft change - same timing, same boost, same targeted lambda
we are still in the process of playing with the cam gears settings a bit to see if we can pick up anymore from just tinkering with parts that we already have on the car
engine setup:
85mm cp pistons
b18c1 block, golden eagle sleeves
carrillo rods
ed's racing p&p b16 head with supertech valves, valve springs and retainers
golden eagle intake manifold
gt4067 turbo
motec m4 ems
advertised specs
skunk2 turbo intake - 9.77mm lift, duration 230 at 1 mm
skunk2 turbo exhaust - 8.89 lift, duration 225 at 1mm
jun type 2 intake - 12.0mm lift, duration 266.6 at 1mm
skunk2 stage 1 exhaust - 10.9mm lift, duration 249 at 1mm
dyno 003 - skunk2 turbo camshafts
dyno 007 - jun type 2 intake, skunk2 stage 1 exhaust

thanks - we are getting there - still a bit down from ultimately where we want to be but this really explains only trapping 138 mph in bristol, a little at a time we are figuring it out - we should have some fun again for once at NHRA Moroso

That must be the power you guys have been looking for lol! I wonder if there would be as signifigant gains on say a small bore GSR 81mm.
Good power though... see you guys at the track soon

from the research that i have done on them recently - they appear to work very well in relatively low hp cars up to say 20 psi and 400 whp - but then again i haven't seen anyone do any definitive testing on a lower hp application either so i am not 100% sure what i have learned about them is true.

so would skunk2 stage2's offer more of an increase? i have noticed that the more overlap a turbo honda has the more power it seems to make..
hmmm, itr's or skunk2 stage 2's (already have the itr's tho)

on my built d16 i plan to run either an exospeed race a6 or comparable cam. I dont care what people say about overlap, i think that the more air you can cram into that cylinder the better. If there proven to make more top end power NA, then why wouldnt they do just the same with boost?

cool comparison for sure,
but it would be more informative comparison if you provided datalogs, especially of the boost. ive seen cars that will boost higher w/ just a cam change, even running off just the same wastegate spring, no boost controller.....
it also looks like the car bogs?
and id love to see what an oem cam, like ITR's would do against the others.

You tell me why it would pick up any boost AT ALL if he has the same target set in his motec with that massive HKS GT gate? We use that sucker to control boost on a friends Nova with a 406" small block and a 106mm turbo, I'm sure it has no problems holding exactly what he wants on a little 100 inch honda.
well sup James it Donny from Rev Motorsports .. we order a few sett of your 272 cams for our evo 8s a few weeks back .. VERY NICE BUILD UP ... great number .. now slap on the slicks and see what kind of numbers you can clock ..
