Default Cheap, Lightweight Track Wheels for s2k??? Do they exist?

I am looking for a set of track wheels for the S, but cannot find anything that is cost effective. I loved the rotas for my R, but as far as I know they do not make tham in sizes that would work on an S.

what are you guys using? I see alot of people usung nicer, more expensive wheels, but I can think of much more I could do with the extra $ saved.

Thanks in Advance!

Chris

rota's work great as a track wheel. i dont know why people bitch soo much when people are just looking for track wheels. if you break a mugen, you lose ~500 dollars. break a rota, you lose 100. you can basically break 5 rotas before u get close to 1 mugen.

lightweight wheels with thin spokes will break a hell of lot easier and faster. spoon sw388's or the rota copies would be great track wheels imo, but i spoon dosent do the staggered setup..so i dunno.

I have alot of respect for Rota wheels, ran them on my integra. Yes, I know I have an S2000. If they made them in s2000 offsets, id hope on so fast. Save money for other stuff, my car isnt my life.

OEM wheels at the track =

My dumb *** drop wheels off the track on the regular (every session!). I'd hate to put dings on wheels I spent money on. Looking into Grams Light 57Pros. ~$1600 for 18x8/18x9.

Off topic: Between the Advan A032 and A048, which is the harder/longer lasting compound?

Thanks.

It was a decision between used A032s and brand new A048s.

with what type of wheel?

i've heard a story of 15 inch te37s getting nearly halfway flattened hitting a pothole. unless u run into the same pothole under the same conditions its hard comparing isolated situations i think.

Rotas are cheap...

all rims can break...Kenisis just had one fail hardcore, the center of the rim just broke off and someone posted on s2ki...I heard of Volks failing, but ive yet to seen it. I never saw Mugen fail, just the Rota replicas everyone assumes to be mugens

[quote]<--has yet to hear of a mugen wheel breaking[/i]

I've broken an MF10 and bent an MF10 (broke the front, bent the rear). The rear, even with such a bad bend in it, still kept a seal with the tire. The broken one....cracked, but didn't fall to pieces.

The wheel shop that I swear by, wouldn't touch the bent wheel. They also couldn't match the Mugen bronze powdercoat.

BTW, the MF10 is not a Mugen manfactured wheel. It's made by Ray's Engineering (so essentially, it's a Volk wheel). With that stated, I have seen many a Volk CE, LE, and TE bent and/or broken (and yes, I know the difference between the Volks and the Rota).

If I were to track again, I'd have no issue tracking on Rotas....but it'd still be cheaper to track on OEM's.
