Default Damn theives...a little help please.

My R was broken into the other day. No biggie…They were just armatures looking for a Radio.(Bastards after my Nak). Anyway other than the passenger glass, nothing was really hurt (Didn’t even get the radio). I do have two concerns I was wondering if you guys could help me with:

1) The Jackasses thought that my Gas door lever was for the hatch and pulled it really hard I’m assuming. Because when I pull it now it doesn’t pop the door until it’s near the top, and does not go all the way back down unless I push it. (operation not affected.) Can I easily fix this, is it hard to adjust the tension in the cable?

2) My Ashtray section between the cup holder and radio spacer was out and they snapped the horizontal piece that has the two rectangle snap in holes for the ashtray piece. Can anyone (MikeK) tell me what part this is. No one at my Acura dealership could figure it out. :rolling eyes: .

Thanks guys. I consider myself lucky.

F#@#!!g Theives.

Canyou take a pic so i know what it looks like?
when my car got broken into the first time, they drilled my radio out.
as a result, i had to change the WHOLE dashboard. yes, the WHOLE dashboard even though the only part damaged was the surrounding of the radio part.
(course it doesn't matter that i have a new dashboard now cause my car got stolen).

can't see your pic...but if it's the part that the B2FiNiTY circled in red, then i think the whole dash has to be changed. basically for me, the top part of that piece was drilled through, and to get it fixed, it involved the whole dash getting changed....

I had a local shop who deals with my insurance company fix it for me...it's a hard deal cause they have to get airbag specialists, and dashboard person who knows how to disconnect/connect all the electronics correctly. the shop was REALLY hesitant to do this since changing the whole dashboard can lead to other problems if done wrong...but if you want that part fixed, i'm pretty sure the whole thing has to be changed. go to acura, and take a look at the dashboard piece (just ask if they can show it to you) together on the computer...the middle part should be attached to it...

i hope your insurance is going to pay for it. a new dashboard is like $600+ for the part only. and getting those airbag people to do their job is prob not cheap either...

i dunno how your acura dealership would do, but if your insurance is working with you, have them recommend a shop...might be better to choose their prefered shop. no matter what shop you bring it to, i'm guessing the same airbag folks will be used so the safety of the airbag should be fine whereever you take it.

the piece he needs is separate. he doesn't need an entire dash.

although when you buy a whole dash, the piece he needs IS included.

Insurance is paying for it, but it is good to know I don't have to replace my dash...If I did I would probably just leave it and screw the peice back in in the rear (which actually holds this peice in place) without the clips.

Thanks Mike I knew you would know. I wish my Acura dealership had someone like you. *scowling* idiots.

The guy deals with nothing but body work int/ext and he hasn't the slightest idea what I need, he suggested that I go to the parts dept. and try to have them figure it out. They had no clue either...frustrating.

Thanks again

Really?
According to Acura, the shop could not order the parts separately. The shop and I were pretty sure that the middle part can be replaced by itself, but through Acura, we were only able to buy the whole dash to get that piece.

Oh well, no matters. Don't have it anymore anyway.

Of course they told you that...would they rather sell a $54 part or a $600 + part...conniving dealerships
