Help taking out door locks?
Hey everyone. I just bought a new ignition switch it came with 3 locks for my 3door 98 hatch. Its just the metal lock that u put the key into to unlock the door, nothing else. My question is? How the heck do i install it???
I took off the panels, took off the 2 bolts holding it on from the inside, and now the door handle and the metal locks are held up by some metal bars. I didnt want to try anything rash, so i was wondering if anyone out there has ever replaced the locks??? Need help.
Im also having trouble getting the rear hatch panel off. Help me, im a lame-o.
Thanks in advance,
David

u have to unscrew the latch so you can move the handle and pull through the hole and into the car then u can unscrew it.

Oh this is so damn easy. I can remove all the panels and have the locks in my hands in 10mins max. I guess it doesnt hurt that I do this kinda stuff all the time though.
Ok pull the panels. Make sure the windows are all the way up. If you can light up the inside of the door mainly where the handle is it will help you a lot. You will need a really small/skinny flathead screwdriver. Look at the handle and you will see a clip around the lock cyl. with just enough room to slide a screw driver in. Pry the clip out and pull the lock out and remove it from the linkage. Put the clip back on without the lock cyl. then take the cyl and push it in. The lock goes with the open portion down this is to drain water from it. Reconnect your linkage and you are set. Simple. If you were here on the east coast I would help you out.
