I wanted to post up my weekend story of the Honda Challenge Xover event!
I first must say, thank you to NASA and the norcal guys for putting on such a great event. I had so much fun and got to race with some friends finally and made some new ones! Luckily, I did not make any enemies!
I should mention this was my first competition race, but I do have lots of track time.

The weekend started out great! Packed all the stuff Thurs, and got out Friday morning a little later than I had planned.
Got up to Infineon, checked into the hotel, and headed to the track to set up! Staked out a spot for Edo and myself right next to Howart!

There were so many HC cars!

Saturday!
Went out for morning practice and tried to figure out this world class track!
Unfortunately, there was a pretty heavy impact in morning practice with an H4 car and an SE-R which resulted in the session ending a bit short.
Time to qualify. With only 15 minutes on this track, I did not expect to get a great qualifying time in especially with all the traffic in front of me. I was able to use the session to figure out the new tires I just put on and learn a few more things about the track.
Ended up qualifying 12th which I was pleased with.

This was in impound after my first race. I was very happy I finished as you can tell.

Time for Saturdays race.
We all lined up for a standing start.
I was able to get a great start and pass a few people around T1 and settle back in before T2.

Coming into T3, the pack slowed a bit sooner than I expected, and as I went for the brakes, I experienced a VERY long pedal. This forced me to make a very quick move to the inside to avoid contact with Sam's nice SGR CRX. I was able to make the move stick, and also passed an H1/2 EK Si. Video will be up at a later point when I find someone to host it for me!
The rest of the race was pretty fun. I was able to make a few more passes and settle in behind Brian. I was not able to catch Brian and I ended up finishing 6th in H4 right in front of Miguel! Miguel and I had a GREAT battle on the last lap going 2 wide for half of the lap.

I was very pleased with my performance for my first race. 6 positions for me to move up was great!
The guys at the front were just so fast right from the start. Edik, Steve, and both Ricks were having some good fun up at the front until Edo's motor let go and he pulled off. I was sure bummed to see when that happen.

My crew was hard at work all day!

That was SOOOOO cool. They had a play area for the children and a bounce house which my son could not get enough of. I wonder how we can talk SoCal into doing this!
I must give a VERY big thanks to my crew and sponsors. My brother Shane, my Friend Mike, my wife for being such a good sport all weekend and my son for not getting crabby!
It would have been very difficult to do any of this without them!
Edo and his family/Crew helped me out a ton as well being as I am a "Rookie"!
Bernardo, well, I just kept buggin him all weekend. Never met a more helpful guy!
Picking his ear for advice about my car along with Steve and Johnny mac. Thanks to you guys for helping me out with those issues!
C&C motorsports made it possible to finish the car and get everything ready for the race. Without that, we never could have gotten the car there!
Redlinetrackevents.com, lots of testing and helping out with the car!
The KW suspension worked AWESOME! The valving was really nice, and the shocks worked wonderful. Still needs quite a bit of tuning on my end, but that will come in the future. The Alaniz/aspec motor was GREAT! Great power, and fun to drive. These guys really know how to build race motors! Now I need to get it on the dyno!
Many thanks to all of you for the help. Without these, there would have been no race for us.
Sunday!
Went out for morning practice and dropped a few seconds off my fastest time from Saturday. I was happy with that. Just used the session to try and figure a faster way around the track. Session ended early again for an incident on course.
Qualifying went very well. Got to grid, and luckily into a spot that provided me with some very clean laps. Everyone was MUCH faster sunday, than the previous day. I was able to qualify 8th!
Again, happy!

Race time! Another standing start!
Lined up for the standing start.
Got another great start. My car just seems to like standing starts.

I was able to pass a few cars up into 2 including Steve in the white CRX.

Steve and I battled for the next few corners pretty hard running very clean door to door in a few spots. Coming out of the carousel, Steve and I were side by side, but exiting I got held up by a H1/2 EK Si and Steve was able to drive right on by. After that, he kinda checked out and I did not see him again until he spun in 10 and went into the tire wall. I was very sad to see that had happened to Steve.

Second lap, Rick Delamare went off in T5, and lost a few positions. There was 2 positions during the race that I moved up. Not the way you want to take a position, but moved up I did.
After Steve had got by me, I tried to focus on running down Brian, who was about 5 tenths ahead. I was able to get a very good run through 8-10 and passed him into 11 under brakes. We were pretty close him right on my bumper through half the next lap until we got to T7. Brians car had some amazing grip in 7 or so I found out when he tried to put his nose under me in the exit. I turned in not ever expecting him to come from that far back as I had just checked to see where he was as we entered T7. Contact was made on my right rear wheel, and I was able to correct and continue on and so was he. After that, I tried to feel the car out until 11, and everything seemed fine, so I continued to push harder and harder to try and catch the next place car. I was able to pull away from Brian, and finally catch Mike Lock. We had a very fun half a lap of close racing until he got held up a bit by traffic coming out of the carousel. I was able to get a run out and go by him into T7 even though he was trying to be defensive. He was very nice in giving me room into 7, and he tried to swing wide and pull tight on the exit to get under me. He was not sure he would have the room to pull off the move, so he did not force the issue. I was able to pull a half sec or so out and then just concentrate on hitting my marks because I could not even see the next place car!
I settled for what I had and was very happy not knowing what place I was in. Hit my marks until the checkered flag, and went in. I was VERY pleased with the race despite the contact, and went in very happy.
As I pulled into my paddock space, the race director was waiting for me. He then informed me that I was not getting signed off for my race "today" because I had passed a car under the yellow flag during the morning practice. I explained to him that I had not, there was no car for me to pass, and it must be a mistake. I also informed him that I had video on the entire session, and that he was more than welcome to take a look. He told me to bring the video up and he would take a look. So, I did, but I needed to wait until that race that was going on ending so I could speak with him. I showed him the video, and he said that there must have been a mix up because they were very busy at the time. He then told me I would still not be signed off because of the contact. I told him that I did not agree with that, but it was left at that.
I come down from race control to find out I missed the podium ceremony and that I had finished an astonishing 3rd place! WOW!!! I had met my improbable goal of a podium my first weekend out!
I was very disappointed that I missed the champagne and picture opportunities, but still so very happy that I finished 3rd. I still can't believe it. Hopefully there will be many more that I "can" attend!
We packed up, and headed home. Got home around 1am, and unloaded everything. If this sounds like babble, well, it probably is. It's 5am, and I am so dead tired from the weekend. I just could not wait to share the news with my fellow racers!
I must say, Ryan kicked *** in the race on Sat with his H1 teg. Bernardo was killer fast on Sunday with the super D and the tranny changed. He just keeps showing us how fast that thing can go. Andrie drove a great race on Sunday, and Rick was just gone in H4!
Congrats to all the HC racers for a great weekend. I know I had a blast! Thanks to all of you that made it what it was!
I will just leave you with a few random shots of the race from the girls on camera duty in my crew!

It looks like an H4 car was only 10 seconds behind the winning H1 car??? WOW!!!
where are all of the West Coast S2000's???? I guess they are all doing Honda-Cup?

In all fairness to the H1 drivers, there was a full course yellow with less than two laps to go which bunched the field.
Jeremy did a great job in his first race and will surely be an H4 front runner once he further sorts his car. Congrats on the podium first time out!
Infineon is an incredible track - much different than what we race in SoCal and it showed. With walls so close the the racing surface, any off track excursion could result in a major incident - and it did many times with several major incidents including two H4 write-offs and a couple of HC incidents leaving the car's futures in doubt.
Thanks to the organizers and all the competitors, this race is certainly one I will remember forever.

Martin was the only S2000 that came out to the event, unfortunately he had an encounter with a tire wall earlier in the day. Sad to see. It looked like he was running some fast laps. It would have been nice to see more S2000's out there, but like you mentioned, they pretty much stick to Honda Cup.

It was an awesome weekend! I want to say a big "Thanks!" to all the PacNW & SoCal guys for making the trip to NorCal & Infineon. It was great to see so many Honda Challenge cars in the paddock, grid & the course. For those who didn't make it, you realy missed out! The racing was great with battles all over the track. People really enjoyed the show we were able to put on. It was great to meet & talk with you guys.
Like Rick said above, an off or dab @ Infineon can make you pay big. Even though there were some seriously damaged cars, I am really glad that no one was injured!
See you guys @ the next crossover.

It was a great weekend. I wasn't sure I will make it after the accident at SJGP. However, the guys at RedZone said, I should make it and they will do whatever they can to ensure that. Big thanks for RedZone for all the hardwork.
We finished the car on Friday night and didn't have time to align it. Missed the first practice on Sat morning because we were setting up the car. Ran 2 laps in qualifying but then ran out of gas. Had to settled for 5th.
Set the fastest lap during the race, but couldn't get by Neil Vanni and had to settle for 3rd.
Sunday was better as I led flag to flag on H1. And finished in the podium for USTCC.
full report will be up on our website shortly

Here is Sundays race.
Much better and quicker pace I was able to set!
Small contact was not to big of a deal, but I have not checked to see if the RTA is bent yet. Hopefully not!
Again, thanks to Edo for hosting the vid!

You look so sexy in the red suit!!!
Great job, buddy!!! Congrats on the podium finish on Sunday.
I'm so dying to race. I think I have the car to be competitive, but I have no $$$ to convert it to a race car just yet.
Anyway, see ya on the 27th at SOW, Jeremy.
