Default I miss it :(

Wow. This past week it has hit me harder then ever .. i miss the RR so much. It's been 70-90 degrees out for a few weeks, and everybody has been riding, and i've been stuck inside doing nothing. I just got back from the eastern side of the state, and i could only imagine how great of a ride it would have been over there, crusing at 80mph in 95 degree heat.

Might as well give an update on me .. most of you know about my accident, so i wont go into detail. Basically a lady turned left in front of me, i tboned her, i was put at fault (BS), i had no insurance, shattered my ankle with a few other injuries, totalled my bike.

We (my lawyers and I) sent notice to Pemco informing them of our lawsuit, that was on July 17th, and to the best of my knowledge, we havn't heard back since.

I finally returned to work today, which is gonna be a big PITA, as i cannot drive and must rely on others (and i'm DEAD broke). I have my "final" cast on, which i say in parenthesis because i fell into a lake .. twice .. over the weekend and need to get a new one, which will be OFF on the 17th.

I plan on riding again .. when, i dont know. A big part depends on when and if i get my settlement .. summer is coming to an end, but i dont think i can wait until next summer to start riding again. I still have my RR, but i think i'm going to turn it into a track bike, pending settlement, like everything else in my life.

Anyways, this was just supposed to be how much i miss riding ... just thinking about the feeling of letting out the clutch a little, and givin a little bit of gas and she starts rollin and it's just perfection. Ahhh.

I'm done. Ride safe guys.

i'll be back in the saddle again, just all this downtime sucks, and especially all this nice weather we've beem having AzntaggeR .. makes it suck. Realistically, i won't be riding until next summer, maybe later .. sine lawsuits can take up to 2 years. but meh.

Azntagger .. were you at the Dash Point H-T meet a few months back? i think i recall seeing your car there (seen it at a million different meets), i was the only one on a bike that went.

i believe it. I hope everything goes good for you bro. It will have been 2 months for me, from start to finish .. from the day i hit the truck, till when my final cast comes off. Of course, it still wont be over. I have the stress of worrying about what will happen next, physical therapy, etc ... as if my life wasn't hard enough before all this happened.

that last sentance makes me feel .. ungrateful or spoiled. i guess theres a saying .. " i was sad because i had no shoes, until i met a man with no feet"

this situtation has definatly put me thru a lot, but NOTHING compared to what my family and best friend went thru, and it's given me alot of time to evaluate my life.

i'm rambling .. thanks

no clue .. and around here, there have been ALOT of motorcycle related deaths. Maybe this happened to prevent a future accident that will now not occur because i'm not riding at the moment. Could be way off, but ya never know!

Ride defensively ... watch out for idiot cagers .. wear your gear ... ride safe!! Summers almost over, hopefully we dont have anymore "it finally happened to me" threads.

MY LAWYER CALLED, finally heard back from Pemco (their insurance). They're sending an accident reconstrucionist to check out my bike, to see the damage and somehow prove i was speeding. The damage isn't all THAT bad, and what can you expect from plastic and aluminum? My lawyer thinks this will help us more then them.

I also got to hear the statement from the witness .. he was at a light southbound, and i went throug that light eastbound .. he said he saw my light turn red (how?) and he saw my go thru it at "excessive speed" and he saw my front wheel come off the ground (wheelie) .,.. then he saw the collision. I dont remember any of it, but i still dont think i did, especially becasue the road is hella bumpy thru the intersection, and the intersection is 300 feet from where i got in the accident anyways .. IRRELEVANT.

anyways .. just an update.

see ya

wow. so i had to go see the trauma surgeons today because of an infection in my side, where i had a huge chunk of flesh missing .. it was swelling up a little, and draining puss.

so i get about 10 shots around where it happened, and i'm wide awake, and i watch em start cutting into me.

what do they find? a huge chunk of glass.

it's sitting right next to me in a container .. kinda cool story i guess but kinda creepy. My mom told the surgeons when i was in surgery the first time that she wanted them to clean it out good, while i was knocked out .. and they didn't.

anyways, that was my adventure for the day. now i'm off to go get a new cast, my 5th one or somethin because it got soaked and they're scared i'll get an infection and the hardware in my ankle will get all fucked up.

i'm lovin' it.

It was a big chunk of windshield glass i think .. it wasn't a splinter, it was a good sized chunk.

on a brighter note, i got my cast soaked ... when i fell into a lake.. twice. i went to get it changed today, and i dont have to get another one! a week and a half early. it was SICK underneath it though, my muscle is gone, my hair is kinda gone, HUGE tan line, and i can't even describe the skin. i can peel off big hard chunks of skin, thats yellow.

anyways, i'm late to work .. ride safe.

Good luck with everything. I hope your situation turns out for the better.

I know your feeling. I have since began a project with my former street bike after a run in with an elderly lady who wasn't paying the slightest bit attention. The bike was mechanically ok. I decided to take a brake from street riding for a while and start a track reconstruction project. Been tracking the bike ever since. It's getting worse now as I find myself doing as many as possible in my time off trying to fight off the constant urge that grows larger. I've finally decided it's time to buy another street bike. I plan on buying in Feb. of next year. Going to look around the country and see if I can find a deal on a close-out '05 CBR600RR. I still have the 919 in the back of my mind. Actually kind of in the middle. I just wish I could frigging find one to ride. It looks great to me on pictures and paper, I'd just like to at least see one and possible ride it. We'll see how it goes.

Got my hospital bill today .... for two days at the hospital, it was a whopping total of .... (drum roll please) ....

$30,000 ... on top of a $1,200 ambulance ride, and the bills from an opthamologist, orthopedic surgeon, anestesiologist, trauma surgeons with about 15 combined visits ... and my lawyer fees that will be in the future.

Let that be a lesson to anyone who thinks they should ride without insurance.

You never know when you're going to go down and get stuck with the bill.

very true, although i dont think I or anyone should have to learn this way.

LUCKILY, i have good medical insurance, and only had to pay $400 of it. But that's not the point.

UPDATE -

Other then a big piece of glass in my side, my cast is off, a titantic of a bill, etc .. not too much is new, other then an accident reconstructionist (an independant guy, working for the other insurance), not much has changed. The reconstructionist came over, took a few measurments, a few pictures and 5 minutes later he was gone.

my lawyer says it will probly help us to show we weren't going fast, rather then help them with their intent to say i was speeding.

no, i should tho. i'll try to get a pic of my ankle and my bike .. my side doesn't look as gnarly as it used to.

i get to go in for yet another fun visit to the trauma doctors .. last time i went they unexpectadly decided to cut me open and dig around. It's still infected though, so maybe there's still more in there. who knows.

talked to my lawyer today .. i talked to him about the $30,000 medical bill and it looks like if i get a settlement, i wont have to pay my insurance anything for covering it, other then the co-pay.

also, he said the other person insurance sent an adjuster/investigator out to the crime scene and they said they found skidmarks which proved i was speeding ... but the police officer himself said, as well as in his police report, that there were no skid marks, and my dad looked and didn't see any either.

so what is stronger, what the cop says or what the adjuster says?

i'm sure there are some variables though, like when the adjuster checked it out, cause a skid mark could have happened a few days later from someone else, and he could put it on me .. bleh i dunno.
