Default b16 bouncy

ok, well im new to the b series thing i had my car running like 2 days now. lol never even felt a civic with a swap pull b4. my car is throwing a code 14 and thats it. but my question is... ok i will start the car up and it wont hold an idle at all. it just droppes till it dies, so 4 now i have the cable adjusted so it has that type of idle. ok so now i want to kno is y is it that when my car is cruising at like 2-3k rpm its a really jerky ride. but if i go to accelerate then it is smooth. like the motor jerks i think its fuel or spark what do u think .

I was looking into solving this problem on my car before I decided to swap. Most of the answers I found involved the FITV, IACV, HDTV etc. lol
I don't know one from the next but I guess you should clean them out with brake cleaner or possibly replace. Make sure your ignition system is in good shape first though.

well its throwen the iacv code. i think i have more info on whats up with it but i still need help. ok.... well i pulled spark plugs and they were set at 30 problem 1 fixed gapped them to .45 . ok then when i was gapping them i noticed every one of them were black as can b. so i cleaned them and cleaned the rotor and the dizzy cap. then start can and it ran so smooth. drove around 4 like 5 mins and it started jerking again. so i look at plugs and there black again. so i guess its running exreamly rich. how can i fix that i have a vafc but i dont want to mess with it should i just bring it to a shop and have them put it on a dyno and a wideband o2 so they can tune it

welkl if u have the money to blow then get it tuned if not read the manual that came w/the vafc and learn from there and see what the af ratio is..

money to blow?
tuning is the best way to spend money on ur car...what good is a hot setup if u cant efficiently burn the A/F mix...u need to get ur car tuned or else its not gonna perform to full potential...i had a hard *** time trying to figure out the vafc the first time i started messin with it...for a beginner i would tell him not to touch it until he knows what hes doing...running rich isnt gonna do much to your ride but if u **** around and dial it in to run too lean u can burn ur motor...all im sayin is that u need to tune it and u should be fine...do ur exhaust fumes stink like half burned gas? are ur exhaust tips coated with carbon? is it carbon on ur plugs or is it oil? the jerkyness sounds like a timing issue to me...have u checked it?check the rotor in ur dizzy to see if it loose...check ur base timing to make sure it is correct as well as ur cams...make sure that they line up correctly...there is also the possibility that it skipped a tooth...that could also cause those symptoms...

about ur cel 14 problem..that is ur iacv...first things first check to see if ur sensor is plugged in...there is a chance that from all the vibration of ur engine that it might have come off or got loose..if the plug is on all the way check if the iacv is getting any power...if its not getting any power then there is an open in one of the two wires...trace it and repair it...this should fix the problem....if there is continuity then the first thing i would do is take off the iacv and clean it out...if this does not fix the problem u will be in the market for a new iacv....do not buy one from the dealer they go for like 175 new...id recommend finding someone on HT with one...i believe that all b series are interchangeable... d series i acv will fit as well...im not sure if all d series will fit, but the one from my 95 d15b7 fit my sir2 b16 head....its smaller in size but the holes line up and it will be fine...just make sure that the OBD systems match...good luck...if u need more help let us know

thanks 4 ur help. umm yes the car is blowing black smoke and it burns my eyes to the max when i walk through it . there is a good amount of carbon on my muffler tip and back of my car. yes its all dry carbon on plugs. i hurd it may b a timeing issue but then y would cleaning the plugs make it run smooth as a bmw 4 about 5 mins then return to old way. checked dizzy and cleaned it. it seems like spark to me but if the spark plugs are covered in carbon the spark isnt as strong rite.umm i dont kno how to check timeing on a b series... yet... and again thanks 4 ur help.
