Default Repairer didn't reassemble door properly, now windows not working. Am I getting raped?

I need a technical guru to help me out on this...

DC2R, in a hit n run accident 3 years ago.

Repairer shop repaired the door, but didn't reassemble 100% I know this because since the repair I could hear faint wind noises coming from the door. Also in the cold MORNING with the wet DEW on the windows (preventing you from being able to see through them) I wind the windows down and back up to clear them abit, but since the repair only the other untouched door smudges the dew. The accident side (my drivers side) dosn't anymore. So there is definately loss of contact somewhere now. There also appears to be a very subtle gap between the bottom window seal and the glass itself.

Took it back in for them to fix, said they could'nt find anything wrong. Doubt they even bothered to check it since it looks and works 99% anyway. So I let it be..

Almost 3 years on now and there started a quiet rattling noise coming out from the door. Eventually when I wind the window down, then wind it back up. It'll stop half way, with a relatively loud "clunking" sound.

Opening and closing the door creates enough force to smack whatevers loose inside back in. And then I can wind the window all the way up again. I have to do this each and everytime I need to wind down the window and this has happened for at least afew months.

NOW the glass window appears to have come off the power window regulator track entirely. I can peek inside the door now (because the window edge is no longer blocking it)... and I can see the track still going up and down when I play with the power window levers... so thats working fine. It seems like the glass window has just come off it. Ultimately I can no longer wind up my window at all anymore!

My guess is, they didn't assemble the glass onto the track properly or didn't align everything in the door properly, causing the window to be gradually pushed out of the track, and eventually coming off it entirely.

Repair shop reckons it's not their fault - since it's now 3 years ago and it's a wear and tear problem. They've yet to look at it but i'm certain he's going to blame it on the regulator (he was going on about it for ages no matter what I said), get it replaced and bill me. For what I beleive to be just simply the window coming off alignment...

Am I totally wrong? Could it be the faulty regulator causing this? Am I getting raped? If so what argument can I say cause he just didn't buy the whole "You didn't reassembled it properly which caused this to happen".

I need some confident arguments to challenge his case, but more importantly I need to know if my suspicion is right first!

Yeah.. you're probably right. I can't prove nuttin.

I noticed it after the repair but at the time it was just some sublte wind noises coming from the door. Plus the morning DEW thing as well.

They said they could'nt find anything wrong with it.

So you reckon it's the misassembly thats caused this?

I might question him about it when he calls me about it. And ask how this might have happened. though he'd just say it's just worn and died.

i wouldnt let whoever touched your R 3 years ago touch it again with a 10 ft pole. screw that. if they messed it up the first time, that would be the last time for me.

take your panels off and look for the screws/hardware that hold the glass onto the sliding regulator. your problem sounds exactly like what happened to my friend's integra that i repaired for him. i went into it without any prior experience, and with the same problems you just described. its going to take some patience to work around the cramped door shell, but i would go ahead and open up the door panel and look at how it works. quite impressive after i looked at the design and how it functioned.

as long as all the parts are there without damage, it just sounds like the hardware holding the glass to the regulator was loose from the beginning, finally leading to your situation....IF thats what it is, which was in my case with my friend's teg. if you lost any of those screws, which happend to me, you can pick some up at a local hardware store. might be a good idea to shoot some silicone grease on the rubber tracks where the glass slides.

good luck.

PS-you can scratch the glass if you arent careful, and most likely you can kiss the tint goodbye if you have tint. its easier with two people working on it.

try what lucky-r is saying. Is it ur regulator thas not working properly? or is ur window just out of track? i can tell u my experience w/ my window... see if it can help u with urs:

i fixed mine this way. The track is easy to spot and easy to move around/disassemble. Roll ur window down about 1/3 of the way, then take the panel off. Realign the track to the slightly lowered window. Make sure that there are no wires (from powerwindow switch, locks, etc) that can get in the way of the window when its fully dropped. You can do this by routing the wires AROUND the and OUTSIDE of the track. The rattleing sound was coming from my wires hitting the inside of the door whenever i took a turn.
