Default Transmission Jerk Question

I accidentally posted this in the prelude section...

My car done this for months, and I just wanted to see if anyone knew what it was...

Whenever I shift from Park to Reverse or Park to D3 etc, the car waits a second then has a notiable jerk. My transmission was rebuilt a little over a year ago, but the shifts are pretty good. Is there any reason it does this? It's very noticable when i go into Reverse almost seems like a clunk, could this be my motor mounts?

Everything else seems fine other then this hard clunk when enganging in gears. I change tranny fluid every oil change (yes its a little overkill, but i figure its only about 3.00/bottle)

This happens to me all the time if I do not warm up the car in the morning. If that happens in the morning, I been told that the transmission fluid has to thin out or something? This only happens when the temp of the car is low?

Well I do notice it happens not as severe if I let the car fully warm up and hold the brake pedal all the way down but it still jerks a little, I just wanted to make sure this way ok? My transmission was rebuilt a little over a 1.5 year ago.

I've two (2) '97's and they both exibit this condition. I've a hunch that the TCM is programmed for this considering how many people have commented on this. I've been lead to believe that this was an effort by Honda to avoid damage to the trans from engaging forward directly from reverse before the car stopped rolling (and visa versa)
Perhaps this is just conjecture, but dispite all the gear clashing that I've heard in "88"s and "89's (I owned one each), I have not heard of any in the later generations.

... probably not the same condition
If the engine vibrates excessively and feels like it's slam dancing under your hood when you put it in gear; you're probably correct about the mount.
My wifes' accord would shake so bad that the front bumper cover and steering wheel would vibrate by itself!! (and it had but one broken mount.)

it's normal with accords, if you double check your mounts and it's good, don't worry much. but changing your tranny fluid everytime you change your oil, i don't think it's a good idea. sometimes you have to let the fluid work in. like for synchromesh fluid, you have to let it work in. i'd recommended to use synchromesh fluid.

Oh someone told me it was a good idea to change it every oil change to always have fresh fluid? I didnt think it would be bad damn i can't do anything right with my car

Considering we're working with an AUTOMATIC transmission here, I would strongly suggest staying with Honda ATF fluid if you're going to do a transmission service.
With regards to the interval of changing the ATF fluid: unless the transmission requires repair or indicates overheated fluid or other such incident, those intervals are far too frequent. (and way too expensive)
Honda recommends it at 60,000 mile intervals ) depending on year/model; and that works out quite well.

As far as your comment
"I didnt think it would be bad damn i can't do anything right with my car"
Relax, we've all had to learn along the way and you will too.

It just doesn't help when you get recommendations like that.
