Hoosier R3S04 or Khumo Ecsta V710's
Hey guys just wanted to hear your opinion on the Hoosiers compared to the Khumos. I've had experience with the R3S04's but wanted to know if I should just go with the 710's because of the price difference. Let me know, thanks.
In the FL heat, I'd suggest the R3S04's... I wouldn't trust the 710's to hold up to the abuse that Sebring can dish out.
Christian, who used to run Kumho's b/c they were cheaper... until Kumho got rid of their QC department and started selling, IMO, unsafe tires

Yeah, I think im gonna go with the R3S04's anyways.. after hearing all the stories about the blistering, especially at sebring I wouldn't want that to happen. Do you know of anywhere else besides TireRack I can purchase some. The availability at tirerack for them is never good. Thanks.
I don't know what to think of the Kumho. I can talk to one person and be told that they are great and another will tell me that the tires disintegrate.
The only Hoosier complaint is price. The tire is just friggin awesome.

The thing that really tempts me about the Kumho's is their contingency program. But my car is hard on the fronts and am not so sure it would stand up to the abuse.
Another place to get the Hoosiers from are the local distrubutors. Check the Hoosier site and see if there is one around you. The nice thing (at least with the one in CT) is that they will mount/balance the tires for free and have a smaller scale contingency program ($100 for 1st in new england, $50 for 2nd, and $25 for 3rd).

i'd used the hoosiers in the past also. i switched to the kumho for the contingency and got 4 new tires so far this year ($600 in Kumho dollars).
i will be dropping tire pressures at the next event. i believe that i have had too much pressure in the things and will shoot for 25 psi in the front and 30 in the back cold and am expecting about 35 psig all around when hot.
i'm not familiar with Sebring and can't speak to that track.
have you seen the latest issue of Grass Roots Motorsports and their tire test? you may want to check it out.
good luck, tom

At Indy Race Park back in May I ran a set of broke in 710's on Saturday and then a set of broke in R3S04's on Sunday - the track and the weather was seriously damn near identical from one day to the next.
The Kumho's did an ok job; I really didn't have many complaints from them. They held grip, didn't fall off hardly at all, and were predictable from lap to lap. Then I put on the Hoosiers the next day and it reminded me why I loved them. They were good for at least half a second a lap there. The biggest difference was the slow corners - the slower the corner was, the more the Hoosier excelled over the Kumho. My ITA Integra struggles with slow corners anyway but the Hoosiers did a better job of handleing it. But that being said, the Kumho's ARE NOT a bad tire - I thought they drove well. But, if you want to run that extra half a second, your shoes need to be purple.
I bought the Kumho's to run a HC race on them since they pay $400 CASH for a race win! I won the race, and got my $400 about a month later which pretty much paid for my little test. That being said, in the CenDiv, if you're running Hoosiers, you get credit for 1 free tire for a race win and credit for half a tire with a 2nd place (assuming minimum number of starters, of course). Between my Dad in ITC and me in ITA, we've won 10 free Hoosiers already this year. So I guess it's all relative.

I Just found out the RS304's have just been on out of stock because of the runoffs. The RS305's are the new tires basically the same thing as the 304's but a different wall design.
