with 2k. Change to Mpfi(correctly)
Get a good D series block. Like the z6/a6. Get it Blueprinted, replace all the necesities. Get good Freeflowing manifolds.
have the head manufactured at that point. Your d series will be able to run almost neck and neck with stock integs and burn on shitting Racers.

This is totally 100% wrong.

A b16 in any car will beat an LS in the same car. If you want reasons, then you don't understand how torque and horsepower work.

My suggestion is do some research and find out what you want not what someone else will tell you to get. I recomend a d16z6 turbo, which can easily be done for under $2k, and will easily yield more power than anything else for that price.

Daily = LS+B16trans+I/H/E
NA if you hate to wrench = B16+whatever you can afford
Fast if you wrench = D16Z6+obd1+turbo

For $500 more you could put rods/pistons in the D16Z6-T and make 250-300 whp (t3/t04).

D16Z6, build the bottom end, and turbo it.....no question in my mind. You should squeek right around your budget if you shop well and have a hella quick car when your done.

Don't be quick to give in to the B hype bro....D's are good little motors....especially when they're force fed.
