head gasket gone?
i recently did an engine bay shampoo to get rid of most of the crap in there... my block got cleaned really well... not its been 3 days and my block is already dirty again.. seems like its oil... does that mean my head gasket needs replacing? its not a super thick coating.. just a light coating... i dont have a digicam right now so i cannot take a picture...
Probably not...are you loosing coolant as well? Check your overflow bottle/radiator. If you are losing coolant, then it's most certainly the head gasket. If you're not, it could be the valve cover gasket. Clean your engine off again, run it for 30 mins, and try and figure out where the leak is coming from then get back to us.
well i dont think i'm losing coolant... i was before.. but i think that was a heater hose... it gave out on me the other day... and i've been checking my rad every day before i leave anywhere... has lots of suction... i can still put a little bit of fluid in the rad but when i take the rad cap off usually a tiny bit spurts out and i only have to put in about a mouth full of fluid... so i dont think i'm losing coolant anymore... but the oily substance from what i can tell is coming from somewhere around the heater hose under the dizzy... unless i didnt get it all and from driving and the motor heating up it just seeped down the side....
