Default Civic hatch vs. Integra as far as handling goes.

I just sold my EG (EH if you prefer) before I moved to Hawaii and am looking for a new car here. I was looking at EK hatchbacks and Integra RSs. Then I started thinking about all the variables that I might come across and was pretty much decided on an RS. Both my EGs never really felt as good handling wise as my '00 Integra LS, despite the weight. I never understood what it was, but Integras just in my mind were better handling. Now I've never driven an EK, save for a couple test drives of a few '99-00 Sis. I tried to search, but I guess I didn't find the right combination of words or something. For anyone that has driven both I'd like your feedback. Edmund's said that the wheelbase of an EK hatch is longer than a DC, but it also weighs less. I'm not sure how much I trust Edmund's stats, but regardless...other than some videos of Best Motoring CTRs vs. ITRs I have no real basis to make a solid decision so I seek the wisdom of the Honda council. Thanks.

I was also looking at an EG hatch, but I'm not sure if I want another EG, this would be my 3rd one. Already did the B18C5 and C1...what's left? K20?

there's too many factors on why the integra "felt" better... to start, tires... suspension, maybe your "feeling" for better handling is just off....soo many factors.

i was just talking stock for stock...EG vs. DC, but I'm asking about EKs. Can EKs handel as well as a DC, or perhaps even better? Just looking for some opinions...I know there are a variety of factors, but both cars modifed equally suspension wise would they be about even?

What exactly didnt you like about how the EG handled. Or, perhaps its better asked as what stood out more about the LS? I know you said you couldnt really describe it, but I think its important to know. To be honest I doubt you're going to find many people who come on here and say the LS will handle as good as the EK, let alone the EG, with the same amount of money put into them. Stock is a little different to compare, for the above stated reasons.

The only real reason Integras would handle better is the quicker steering rack. A power DC rack (i think) has 2.9 turns lock to lock. A manual Ek rack has like 3.6-3.8--and a power EK rack has (i think) 3.4? You can get a Quaife manual rack & pinion kit for ef, eg, and (maybe ek) manual only with the quaife kit: ef-2.85 ltl. eg-3.25 ltl. Ek I assume would be the same as eg. Its for manual racks only, though.

just my opinion on guys so please do not flame, anyway i think you really can not compare 96-00 hatch models (cx,dx) vs 94+ integra rs model. i know both are low end model, but i think the integra has a better starting point then the HB. like what d16dcoe45 and miksew stated. i think it goes down to perference and wieght. it will be nice if you have a HB 92-95 or 96-00 with ITR suspension now that is a

go with a DA integra. 1990 rs 2 door. probably honda's best body style every.
only about 16 lbs heavier then the 1994 integra. plus the 90 integra looks 100 times better then the ugly *** DC integra.
plus wheelbase = 100.4 versus 94 integra = 101.2
= easier oversteer with right suspension setup.

plus the rear track on the 94 integra is 0.3 inches narrower then the front, while the 90 integra is equal at 58.1 inches.

stock vs. stock, an integra will handle better than any USDM EK civic hatch.

The integra comes with bigger wheels and tires, bigger brakes (and rear disks) both front and rear swaybars, a quicker steering rack, and stiffer springs.

and you get a better powerplant, power windows/locks, etc. etc.

Once you start going aftermarket, you can make either car handle very well though, but it will take more to improve the EK hatch's handling than it will to improve the integra's, since it already starts out at a higher level.

heres my 2 cents on the HATCH and the DC...
i have had both with the same exact suspension set ups ( which i transfered to the DC)
and betweent he 2 the DC felt better overall then my EG did. granted the EG handled great but when i dropped everything in the DC it was a whole different ball game.....
