A longshot but...I need help with my MUGEN rear wing for my CRX
I recently required a Mugen rear wing for my CRX. It came on a salvage SIR that was imported recently. The only problem is it has no mounting hardware. It has two brackets mounted directly into the wing, but for the life of me without the other side I have a hard time seeing how it mounts to the hatch.
Does anyone by the rare possibility have pic's or anything to lead me to figure out how this thing mounts. I am sure I can come up with something, but I would like to make it as truly correct as possible.
For reference, it's the same wing as the CRX on the cover of this months issue of Honda Tuning has.

you may have to buy the wings west version of it or somehow aquire the mounting equipment from wings west. I have the wings west version and it is identical.
Hopefully that helps you a little

mine (ww copy)had these little metal brackets on each side, and they were screwed to the wing then screwed to the inside of the hatch, is it really a mugen wing what is it made out of, i have only seen one real one it is made of this soft flexible foam type stuff if yours is hard/fiberglass its fake
Nope, mine is soft foam and flexible man....it's the real deal. Maybe I can call a wings west distributor and see if they can send me some hardware.

yeah I have always wondered how you mount the foam mugen one...I know now a few people have them on here...I cant remember exactly who...maybe IM one of them?
I have a urethane one... It didnt come with brackets I wisht I could get you a pic of the ones I made...a little double sided 3m tape along the top out edge of the hatch...then I made a kind of U bracket that at attaches the tear drop part of the spoiler and attaches to the side fo the hatch...I dont have pics im sorry.

Cool deal. I did see that there is a length of double sided tape used, I just need to figure out this bracket action. Appreciate any help you can give man.
dude i just built my bracket for my wings west wing. it was the same idea, i got it used off a salvaged vehicle for 20$, repainted it and built the brackets myself out of metal i bought at home depot. man was that a bitch, i had to use a hammer and the small anvil on my vice. making that U shape took a while.
Gimme a pic man, let me see what you've done. I have never even seen the brackets before, so I just wanted to make them a copy of the real hardware. Let me see what you got?
So from here it looks like that bracket basically wraps around the bracket on the wing then uses a nut/bolt combo to mount...is that correct?
Is that a copy or the real Mugen wing? If that's the real one, was yours basically straight without much curvature to conform to the hatch? Mine is pretty straight, and when I hold it up to the hatch it's got a pretty good gap toward the sides. I know the brackets will pull it in, but just wondering if they are all like that?

i said mine was a wings west replica.
i used some weather striping with self adhesive between the wing and the hatch anyway. but it matched the curvature of the hatch fine. you can see it on the end.

dude I have the mugen wing and I lost my brackets and could not get that thing on their stable for anything...best thing is to find something similary shaped so that thing dosent fly off. The brackets are basically U-shaped, they line up around the wiedth of the hatch and the screws tighten by pushing themselves against the hatch...u can also drill holes in through the hatch if your willing, through the spoiler.
this is when I tried usuing mounting tape (double sided), thr **** dosent fit right and it will fall off...
this when I finnaly found my brakets in the garage, my advice is to search long and hard and try buy some, if not PM me and I can take really close pictures of my brackets if you wanna try and duplicate it.

yeah thats what i had to do. i made the brackets, drilled them into the spoiler (put an alluminum plate in the spoiler and bondoed it into the slot so it wouldnt come out) and then drilled into the hatch. its not that hard, you remove the plastic **** and then you can actually bolt into it. its super stable now.
Oakpwr.....yeah that system is a bit different than my Mugen wing has. Like Riced said, it has a U shaped bracket screwed into the wing, with the opened end pointing towards the outside of the car. Another bracket then mounts to that, and wraps around the hatch.
I knew I would make brackets to wrap around the hatch edge, I just wondered how the actual Mugen ones worked. It seems I have seen like 10 different mounting for these wings! The wings west system of mounting seems different based on how yours mounts Oakpwr, but then again I can't really see Tysons mounting up above.
Let me see what yours look like RicedRex since you have an actual Mugen one. From there then I'll decide what I'm gonna do here.
Thanks for the pic Oakpwr
How about those ricer queers in the other post saying this wing is ugly...silly ******s. I don't care how unattractive something seems to me, if Mugen designed it I'll just learn to like it if I have to..lol. Luckily I've never experienced that yet

mine is pretty much the exact same as oakpwrs.
the actual mugen brackets have 3 holes instead of two that anchor into the side of the hatch. but WW is sufficient. i also use silicone glue to attach the wing to the rear of the hatch, but i regret that because i couldnt get it off the hatch when i took off the wing.
looks like this (ignore the dots)

yeah you have to see the wing in different angles to really appreciate it. i liked it cuz it aint no shopping cart handle like some of the other ones i see.
the problem with the bracket is you can only see it clearly when its off the car! its almost shaped like a question mark.
